In Danny Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday have a very exciting young manger.

But it’s been a very tough start to the 2024/25 season for Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday, who currently sit in 20th place of the Championship table.

After the opening four games of the season, the Owls have just one win to their name, losing their last three games in the Championship.

It’s still early days, and despite recent fan criticism of Rohl and several players, mostly Barry Bannan, there’s still widespread hope and expectation for the years to come under Rohl.

He’s one of a long line of managers to take up the Hillsborough hot seat. And here we look at how some of the Owls’ former bosses are doing in this new season…

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore endures tough start at Port Vale

Darren Moore left Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2023, following a public feud with owner Dejphon Chansiri following promotion from League One.

Moore later took the Huddersfield Town job but lasted just 23 games. Soon after, Moore took charge of Port Vale in League One, but would oversee their eventual relegation into League Two.

He stocked up well over the summer, signing George Byers following his Sheffield Wednesday release.

Though despite a positive summer window, Port Vale sit in 17th place of the table after the opening four league fixtures, having lost their last two games.

Xisco Munoz chasing title glory in Slovakia

Xisco Munoz replaced Moore in S6. But after 11 games, Sheffield Wednesday sacked Munoz, who left without a single win to his name.

The former Watford boss headed to Slovakia and took charge of FC DAC 1904, who finished in 2nd place of the Slovakian Nike liga and qualified for the Europa Conference League.

They were knocked out by Azerbaijani side Zira, but have made a positive start to the new campaign with seven points from their opening four games leaving them in 3rd place of the table.
