Former Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce is back in work.
Sheffield Wednesday have a long and varied list of former managers, with Danny Rohl the current first-team boss.
Rohl is one of the most well-liked Sheffield Wednesday managers in the club’s history. But the going is certainly tough right now.
After the opening four games of the 2024/25 season, the Owls sit in 20th place of the Championship table, losing 3-0 vs Millwall in their last outing.
Owner Dejphon Chansiri looks set to give Rohl ample time to turn this poor start to the season around.
Though it comes after a big summer haul in the transfer market, with the club spending £3million on Ike Ugbo, and so Chansiri may be eager to see some results soon.
One manager who’s been and gone under Chansiri’s watch is Steve Bruce, who recently held talks for the Jamaican national team job.
Bruce, 63, was in charge of Wednesday in 2019, overseeing 18 games and winning seven before leaving Hillsborough to take on the Newcastle United job ahead of the 2019/20 season.
His last job was with West Brom which he left in 2022.

Blackpool appoint former Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce
On Tuesday evening, League One Blackpool announced that they’d appointed Bruce on a two-year deal, following the recent departure of previous boss Neil Critchley.
Alongside long-term no.2 Steve Agnew, Bruce will look to get the Seasiders out of the third tier, and back into the second following their relegation in 2023.
Bruce will be working with a couple of former Sheffield Wednesday players in Ashley Fletcher and Jordan Rhodes.
And Bruce will also be going up against the Owls very soon.

Blackpool vs Sheffield Wednesday will be Steve Bruce’s second game in charge
Bruce gets underway as Blackpool manager against Exeter City at Bloomfield Road on September 14th.
He has some time to work with his new side on the training ground before getting stuck into league action.
But Bruce will only oversee one league game before his side take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
The Owls have beaten Hull City and Grimsby Town to reach the third round of the Carabao Cup, though Rohl may well use this upcoming Blackpool game to try out a new formation, and a new XI.
Given the Owls’ poor recent form, Blackpool could face a very weakened Sheffield Wednesday XI on the evening, and it could be a chance for Bruce to get one over his former club.
