Sheffield Wednesday are now on the lookout for their next manager, after the club parted ways with Xisco Munoz last night.
Sheffield Wednesday aced Munoz last night after a winless start to the 2023/24 Championship campaign.
The Owls sit in last place of the table and with just two points to their name, with their last outing being a 1-0 defeat at West Brom on Tuesday night.
Of course, Munoz’s sacking has garnered a large reaction from Wednesday fans and from neutrals too.
And Sheffield Wednesday’s local reporters have also had their say on the Spaniard’s tenure….
Joe Crann tweeted:
“Finding somebody to come in for #SWFC in the summer was tough enough, finding somebody to come in after the chaos, and statements, and mud-slinging of the last few months is going to take quite some doing.”
Alan Biggs tweeted:
“An unquantifiable mess. Yet I’m convinced this squad can stay up with a short term fix. Longer term far more worrying – but the force of the fans WILL save the club.”
Dom Howson tweeted:
“I don’t like to see anybody lose their job but the reality is that Xisco Munoz was out of his depth. He took over at a difficult time but he didn’t help himself with a lot of his decision-making. He should have been put out of his misery weeks ago.”

Who next for Sheffield Wednesday?
Who Dejphon Chansiri might bring in, and who might be willing to work under the Wednesday owner, remains a mystery.
There’s enough managers out there though. There’s plenty out of work managers who could be a good fit for the Owls in names like Neil Warnock, former boss Steve Bruce, and Nathan Jones to name a few.
But for many fans, the end of Munoz is a welcome one. Like Howson points out for example, it’s not nice to see people being sacked, but Munoz was well and truly out of his depth.
The club is a mess and that’s the only saving grave for Munoz. But his management style was woeful and the club needs to find the right man to get the club up and running in the Championship.
Wednesday face Huddersfield Town this weekend.
