Sheffield Wednesday have been involved in a handful of transfer headlines in the build up to the January transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday used the January transfer window to their full advantage last season.
Danny Rohl made three key loan signings in Ian Poveda, James Beadle, and Ike Ugbo, who all played an important role in the great escape
This season, it looks like loans will once again be the focus. Sheffield Wednesday have just come out of a registration embargo and fans aren’t expecting anything major from owner Dejphon Chansiri in January, if anything at all.
But Rohl is desperate for loan signings in January, and with the Owls still playing attractive football under his watch, Sheffield Wednesday remains an attractive destination for Premier League clubs to send their younger players.
And given the financial struggles at Hillsborough, there could be some player exits too. Here we round up all the latest Sheffield Wednesday transfer news ahead of January…

Southampton not planning Shea Charles recall at Sheffield Wednesday
Shea Charles is another impressive loan signing for Sheffield Wednesday under Rohl. The Northern Ireland skipper has already featured 13 times in the Championship, quickly becoming a key player in the midfield.
Given his impressive form, Rohl has revealed fears about Charles being recalled by Southampton in January, with many Owls fans sharing the same fears.
But Sheffield Wednesday News understands that Southampton currently have no plans to recall Charles in January.
The Saints are happy with his progression, though a managerial change at St Mary’s could have an impact on their current stance.
Sam Reed attracting loan interest ahead of January
Sheffield Wednesday academy gem Sam Reed is attracting loan interest ahead of the January, with several clubs in the National league thought to be keen.
The 21-year-old left-back is yet to make his Championship debut for the Owls but did feature off the bench against Coventry City in the FA Cup last season.
Journalist Joe Crann revealed that there’s been a ‘number of enquiries’ from National League clubs to take Reed on loan in January.

Carlton Palmer makes Dion Sanderson prediction at Birmingham City
Birmingham City defender Dion Sanderson is currently exiled by Blues, having featured just twice in League One after captaining them to relegation from the Championship last season.
The Wolves academy product has played for a handful of teams in the Championship and former Owls man Carlton Palmer believes that Sanderson could be a perfect signing for Sheffield Wednesday, given their lack of options at the back.
Palmer said: “They’re in need of a centre-back, and they’ve changed to playing a back-three, so he could be an ideal fit for somebody like Sheffield Wednesday.”
But Birmingham City want to sign a replacement for Sanderson before letting him leave in January, either on loan or permanently.
