One Sheffield Wednesday gem alarmingly looks to be coming to the end of his deal this summer.

The Owls are without a doubt in a situation where they will need to be thinking proactively about tying down their biggest assets prior to the 2025 summer.

Many of Danny Rohl’s key players’ futures are still undecided in S6, with Barry Bannan being a notable name who could leave this summer, alongside Sheffield Wednesday vice-captain Liam Palmer.

There are also some younger names that would be awful for the Owls to lose, including midfielder Sean Fusire, who has been permanently promoted to the first team this season. His future at Hillsborough Stadium is currently being decided, with Sheffield Wednesday looking to extend his time at the club.

Alongside Fusire, there is another youngster at the club who looks like he could be a crucial player in the future, however they must not waste any time in ensuring that he will stick around for the long term.

Sheffield Wednesday must prioritise future of goalkeeper gem Pierce Charles

Sheffield Wednesday No1 James Beadle has certainly been unshiftable in-between the sticks for the Owls in the 2024/25 Championship season, and it is only down to his brilliant abilities that Pierce Charles is yet to be handed action in the league.

The ‘impressive’ young goalkeeper has been handed first team action in the EFL Cup, including a recent solid showing against Brentford.

As a goalkeeper, who has already been handed senior international action with Northern Ireland, it would be a massive waste if Sheffield Wednesday didn’t tie down the future of the shot-stopper, who, per Transfermarkt, is set to see his current contract expire in June 2025.

Sheffield Wednesday must realise potential of Pierce Charles

Beadle has certainly been an incredible goalkeeper for Wednesday since his initial loan arrival in January 2024, and to get such a player in the side for a year and a half has without a doubt been a blessing for Rohl.

However, there will need to be some proactive action taken in regards to the 2025/26 season, and the fact that Charles is without a doubt the most likely suitor to fill Beadle’s shoes.

The Owls youngster has without a doubt proven that he is first team ready, but there will without a doubt be rival clubs aware of his progress, and Sheffield Wednesday must not let tie race by in their mission to tie down one of their most prized players.
