Sky Sports pundit Curtis Davies was full of praise for one Sheffield Wednesday player after their hard-fought defeat against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
Sheffield Wednesday did themselves very proud against Brentford on Tuesday night, taking the Bees right down to the final penalty.
It looked as though the Bees were going to win the game with ease after dominating the first half and having a 1-0 lead at half-time.
But Djeidi Gassama struck from range, very much out of the blue, and that gave the Owls a lease of life at the Brentford Community Stadium.
Wednesday could even have nicked a winner for themselves. But the game went to penalties and to the 10th penalty, which Liam Palmer was unfortunate enough to miss.
There were several impressive performances for Danny Rohl’s side on the night, and perhaps none more so than Owls academy goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

Curtis Davies wowed by Sheffield Wednesday’s Pierce Charles vs Brentford
The 19-year-old is going from strength to strength this season. Charles made his Northern Ireland debut this month, then putting in a huge performance against Premier League opposition on Tuesday.
He made four saves on the night. Charles also boasted the most touches of any Wednesday player (54), as well as the most accurate passes (22).
Speaking about Charles after full-time, Sky Sports pundit Curtis Davies spoke very fondly, stating that the Owls shot-stopper was his Player of the Match on the night.
Davies said: “Excellent. A lot of the saves he made, you expect him to make. But it was just his manner throughout the whole game.”
Davies added: “He gets his body behind it so well. And all game, just the comfortability on the ball, his confidence just oozed from him.
“I thought it was a really impressive, really all-round performance, and for me he was the Player of the Match.”
Sheffield Wednesday received interest for Charles during the summer but kept him at Hillsborough following the injury to Ben Hamer.

Pierce Charles has ‘the world at his feet’
Although Sheffield Wednesday fans have still only seen Charles in action on a handful of times in cup competitions, we’ve certainly seen enough to tell us that he’s got a very bright future.
To be able to make the saves he can, and to be able to pass the ball like he does at such a young age, is a huge credit to him.
He really suits the style of play at Sheffield Wednesday and never looked out of place against what was a strong Brentford XI.
Speaking about Charles last month, Owls skipper Barry Bannan was also full of praise for Charles, saying: “He’s got the world at his feet.
“It’s just about him keep working hard and progressing, and I’m sure he’ll have a bright future.”
For Rohl, with James Beadle’s loan set to expire at the end of the campaign, having Charles ready for regular Championship football by next season is key.
A potential loan exit in January could be ideal. Or even if Beadle is recalled in January or leaves for whatever reason, Charles coming in soon could be hugely beneficial ahead of next season, where he could be the Owls’ no.1.
