Sheffield Wednesday have so far made the most signings of any Championship club in this summer’s transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday have already signed nine new players this summer; James Beadle, Ben Hamer, Yan Valery, Max Lowe, Svante Ingelsson, Nathaniel Chalobah, Jamal Lowe, Olaf Kobacki, and Charlie McNeill.

Danny Rohl and owner Dejphon Chansiri have wasted no time in their preparations for the upcoming 2024/25 Championship season, in which Sheffield Wednesday are expected to perform much better than they did last season.

The Owls kick off their season with a visit from Wayne Rooney and his Plymouth Argyle side on August 11th.

Before then, Sheffield Wednesday may hope to have a few more signings through the Hillsborough doors, and here we look at what might come next for the Owls in this summer’s transfer window…

Sheffield Wednesday ramp up Karamoko Dembele pursuit

Sheffield Wednesday were linked with a move for ex-Celtic gem Karamoko Dembele earlier this summer.

The winger is currently playing for Brest in Ligue 1 but looks set to leave the French club, despite a promising 2023/24 season on loan at Blackpool.

It’s reported that Sheffield Wednesday along with Derby County and Portsmouth have lodged bids for Dembele, though Bolton Wanderers have since made a significant bid to sign the 21-year-old.

Sheffield Wednesday may lodge second Ike Ugbo bid

Sheffield Wednesday are desperate to re-sign Ike Ugbo on a permanent deal from Troyes this summer.

But the Owls have recently seen their opening bid knocked back by the French club, with rival Championship teams including QPR and Stoke City now taking a look, along with League One Birmingham City.

However, it’s claimed that Ugbo is keen to return to Sheffield Wednesday during this summer’s transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday set to miss out on Mickael Nade

Another player in France linked with a summer move to S6 is Mickael Nade, who’s technically a free agent.

Following his release at St Etienne, it was revealed that Sheffield Wednesday and West Brom were both keen to sign the centre-back.

Though it looks like the Owls’ links to Nade will prove short-lived, with the 25-year-old now in talks over a new deal with St Etienne ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Di’Shon Bernard nearing new Sheffield Wednesday contract

Before possible deals for either Ugbo or Dembele, it looks like Sheffield Wednesday’s next bit of transfer business will be the re-signing of Di’Shon Bernard.

After weeks of uncertainty, it’s now reported that Bernard is expected to sign a new deal at Sheffield Wednesday and stay for the 2024/25 campaign.

What next for Sheffield Wednesday in the summer transfer market

New signings seem inevitable before the opening game of the 2024/25 campaign, and it seems clear that the Owls are very keen on Ugbo and Dembele.

There’ll be other names on their radars and defensive signings might soon become the priority; even with Bernard likely re-signing, there’s still a slight lack of depth and quality at the back, especially in the middle.

Either way, we can assume to see more new faces, or old ones returning to Sheffield Wednesday in the coming week or two.
