Sheffield Wednesday may miss out on one of their summer transfer targets to an ambitious League One club.
Sheffield Wednesday appear to be keen on adding to their already-impressive selection of summer signings under Danny Rohl.
So far this summer, the Owls have brought in all of James Beadle, Ben Hamer, Max Lowe, Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, Nathaniel Chalobah, Olaf Kobacki, Jamal Lowe, and Charlie McNeill.
Many more are expected to arrive at Hillsborough in the coming weeks, and likely before Sheffield Wednesday kick off their 2024/25 Championship campaign with a home game vs Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle on August 11th.
The Owls are working hard on a deal to sign Ike Ugbo but have seen an opening bid knocked back.
Sheffield Wednesday are also being linked with former Celtic wonderkid Karamoko Dembele at Brest, after his impressive loan spell with Blackpool in League One last time round.
But it appears that competition for Dembele’s signature is growing more rife.

Recent reports revealed that Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, and Portsmouth have all made offers to sign Dembele from Ligue 1 Brest this summer.
The 21-year-old appears to be surplus to requirements at the French club despite scoring eight and assisting 13 more for Blackpool in League One last season.
Now though, an emerging report from The Bolton News has revealed that League One Bolton Wanderers have tabled a ‘significant’ bid for Dembele, ‘in the hope a deal can be done quickly’.

The major advantage that Sheffield Wednesday have in the race to sign Karamoko Dembele
As ever, and as may be the case with the Ugbo deal, any deal for Dembele could come down to money.
With Sheffield Wednesday having already spent on the likes of Kobacki and Valery, and with bids going in for Ugbo, how much money the Owls could possibly spend on Dembele remains to be seen.
But the feel-good factor around S6 and the club’s huge upturn in ambition and hope for the near future could be enough for Dembele to prefer a move to Sheffield Wednesday over the likes of Derby, Portsmouth, and Bolton.
The Owls’ summer business so far and Rohl’s presence has given the club a newfound edge for the remainder of this summer’s transfer window, and it could see some top quality players, like Dembele, arrive in the Steel City before the window slams shut on August 30th.
