Sheffield Wednesday have had an opening transfer bid for a summer target ‘knocked back’, it has been revealed.
Sheffield Wednesday are looking to add to their nine summer signings before the start of the 2024/25 Championship season.
Danny Rohl and his Owls players welcome Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth Argyle to Hillsborough on the opening day of the new Championship campaign on August 11th.
Before that, Sheffield Wednesday have friendlies against the likes of Brighton, Red Bull Salzburg, and Werder Bremen, as Rohl gears up for what is his first full season in management.
The Owls have impressed in the summer transfer window so far. Owner Dejphon Chansiri is earning praise for his side’s transfer business and Sheffield Wednesday don’t look as though they’re slowing down.
More and more names continue to be linked with possible summer moves to S6 and Sheffield Wednesday continue to make moves to sign new players.
One such player is last season’s loan hero Ike Ugbo.

Sheffield Wednesday have been strongly linked with a return for Ugbo, who scored seven goals in 18 Championship games on loan from Troyes during the second half of the 2023/24 season.
Troyes were relegated to the French third tier last time round and now look set to part ways with Canadian international Ugbo.
But journalist Alex Miller has now revealed that Sheffield Wednesday have seen an opening bid for the 25-year-old ‘knocked back’, with an ‘improved offer yet to be made’.
There’s also ‘strong interest’ from Championship rivals Stoke City along with League One Birmingham City.

Sheffield Wednesday haven’t put all their faith in an Ugbo return this summer, likely knowing that a permanent deal for the player would’ve proved difficult.
And it’s proving so. But there’s still credit due to the Owls for making a clear effort to try and bring him back to the club, with a move likely not coming cheap.
But Rohl has managed to bring in two new no.9s this summer in Jamal Lowe and Charlie McNeill, also seeing Josh Windass sign a new deal, so Sheffield Wednesday have somewhat covered themselves in case a deal for Ugbo doesn’t work out.
Still, if Ugbo returns this summer then Sheffield Wednesday will really have a dangerous front-line, with Bailey Cadamarteri another who could have a big impact next season.
With the Ugbo deal, though, it appears to come down to money. Birmingham City look set to spend this summer and whilst a drop down to League One may not feel like a good move for Ugbo, it could yet materialise.
