Josh Windass has praised one Sheffield Wednesday teammate who looks in ‘incredible shape’ this pre-season.
Josh Windass is part of the Sheffield Wednesday pre-season plans after signing a new deal in S6.
His previous deal expired last month and there was quite widespread uncertainty around his Hillsborough future, with reports that West Brom were in talks to sign Windass.
But the 30-year-old has committed his future to Sheffield Wednesday and he’ll be looking to build on his impressive finish to the 2023/24 season which saw Windass score goals in each of the last three league games.
And Windass has recently spoken out on Sheffield Wednesday’s new signings, of which there are nine already this summer.
Windass hailed the first impressions of Yan Valery, Svante Ingelsson, and Olaf Kobacki, whilst also highlighting the increased competition with the players who were already at the club.

Speaking to The Star, Windass spoke out on the increased levels of competition at Sheffield Wednesday following the recent influx of new players.
Hailing the new arrivals, Windass also spoken out on certain other players who were at the club last season.
The Sheffield Wednesday striker says that Anthony Musaba and Djeidi Gassama have shown improvements, both of which signed last summer, and that Mallik Wilks also looks to be in good shape ahead of the new season.
Windass said:“The guys from last year have come in and improved no end, too.
“Musa [Musaba], Gassa [Gassama], Mallik Wilks has come in and looks in incredible shape.
“So it’s been nice to see the boys come in fighting for their place. That’s what you want.”

There’s no doubting that Wilks has endured a tough run with Sheffield Wednesday following his 2022 move from Hull City.
He was a long-term target for previous manager Darren Moore, but so far, striker Wilks has scored just one goal in 31 league games for the Owls.
Last season, the 25-year-old featured jut 15 times in the Championship and had very little impact, becoming a source of criticism among fans.
For Wilks, whether or not he has a future at the club remains to be seen, especially with new players coming and with more likely to arrive later in the summer.
But Windass’ update shows that Wilks isn’t going out without a fight, and depending what business Rohl and co can do in the remainder of the summer window, Wilks could have a role to play for Sheffield Wednesday next season.
