It’s another tough assignment for the Owls, whose games only seem to be getting tougher and tougher by the week.
Wednesday have lost their last three and currently sit in 20th place of the Championship table.
Last time out, Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-0 vs Millwall at The Den, in a game they won last season.
Likewise, the Owls beat QPR on both occasions in the Championship last season, but fan hopes of a win here seem to be quite low as things stand.
Rohl isn’t helped by current injuries either; speaking to the press on Thursday, Rohl revealed an injury crisis in defence with all of Di’Shon Bernard, Michael Ihiekwe, and Dominic Iorfa potential doubts.
Elsewhere, Jamal Lowe is also a possible doubt for the game, whilst Nathaniel Chalobah has been ruled out.
Danny Rohl facing tough Anthony Musaba decision at Sheffield Wednesday
One of Sheffield Wednesday’s liveliest players this season has been Anthony Musaba.
At the same time however, Musaba has also been one of the Owls’ most disappointing players.
Musaba leads the Championship for dribbles completed this season, and also for amount of players dribbled past.
But the Dutchman has just one assist in four games, no goals, averages 0.8 key passes-per-game and 0.3 accurate crosses-per-game.
On top of that, Musaba has a 63% pass success rate in the opposition half and has created just one ‘big chance’ in the Championship so far this season.
The above stats are damning for Musaba and they prove why he’s become such a divisive figure among Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media.
Sheffield Wednesday fans were critical of Musaba after the 2-0 defeat vs Leeds United last month.
The options that Danny Rohl has at Sheffield Wednesday
With Musaba, it’s a difficult call for Rohl; Musaba is arguably his most forward-thinking player, and he’s obviously good at beating opposition defenders.
At the same time, Musaba is having no end product this season.
For Rohl, it’s either a question of changing the formation so that Musaba has more passing options in the final third, or simply taking him out of the side.
Olaf Kobacki could be given a deserved chance to shine this weekend, or Djeidi Gassama could come into the side.
But they too might face the same problem with the Owls’ first-team seeming to lack confidence after this poor start.
It’s certainly one of many tough calls for Rohl to make ahead of QPR.
