Sheffield Wednesday attacker currently leads the Championship for one impressive statistic

The Sheffield Wednesday attacker is surprisingly leading the way in one statistic.

From the jubilations of a brilliant summer transfer window and an excellent opening day triumph against Plymouth Argyle, Sheffield Wednesday have been brought right back down to earth in recent weeks following three successive Championship defeats.

Danny Rohl’s side have not managed a goal in the last three Championship fixtures, therefore leading to questions being asked over the current frontline that appears to not have been clinical enough following the defeats in recent games.

One in particular who has lacked a clinical edge across the season is Anthony Musaba, who is still yet to open his account for the 2024/25 season, and there is every likelihood that Rohl could turn towards new signing Olaf Kobacki to provide a goalscoring threat.

Despite his difficulties in front of goal, Musaba has excelled elsewhere, and as a result he currently leads the way in the Championship so far this season in one surprising statistic.

Sheffield Wednesday attacker Anthony Musaba leads the way in one Championship stat

The Owls winger has been regarded as ‘frustrating’ when playing on the wing for Rohl’s side, particularly when it comes to performing in front of goal, however there is no denying that he has shown his abilities on the ball this season.

He has proven to be a real threat when taking players on this season, and as a result, per SofaScore, he currently stands as the Championship player with the most successful dribbles in the 2024/25 season, with his tally standing at 13.

He leads the way in front of the likes of Tom Fellows and Ibrahim Cissoko, both of whom he has four more successful dribbles than.

Anthony Musaba could be a real threat for Sheffield Wednesday if he fixes one issue

It is clear that at the age-of-23, Musaba certainly is a talent, and one that will improve with age.

He has already shown to have settled into Championship football, showing massive signs of improvement in comparison to the start of the 2023/24 campaign, and the dribbling stats showcase that.

However, his inconsistencies in front of goal are most certainly a prominent issue, and one which hinders both his abilities and Sheffield Wednesday’s attacking threat.

It is a glaring omission from his arsenal of skills, and if he was more confident at finding the back of the net, he would be an incredible asset to Rohl’s side.

At his age there is of course plenty of time for him to work on this issue, and it is one that Rohl will certainly be able to help with, however there needs to be a clear improvement in the coming weeks, otherwise he will become more of a hindrance for the Owls rather than an asset.
