Danny Rohl has no other option but to unleash ‘fantastic’ Sheffield Wednesday star on Swansea City

Danny Rohl must look to bring one Sheffield Wednesday star back into the side against Swansea City.

Sheffield Wednesday were unable to build on the away win in the Championship against Coventry City before the break as they lost out to Burnley 2-0 at Hillsborough Stadium.

The Owls were certainly not off-the-pace by any means, with several players putting in a solid showing, with midfielders Barry Bannan and Shea Charles putting in a performance that will likely see them retain their spots in the side for the next game against Swansea City.

However, Yan Valery caused issues when played as a right centre-back in a three after his costly error led to a goal for the visitors to hand them the lead.

Another poor performer was once again Ike Ugbo, who struggled to make a dent in the Burnley backline whilst leading the line for the Owls, and he also squandered a key opportunity to give his side the lead in the first half after missing a header only yards out, leading to questions over whether one Sheffield Wednesday star could come in to replace him.

Danny Rohl must look to bring in Jamal Lowe in place for Ike Ugbo at Sheffield Wednesday

Unfortunately for Danny Rohl’s side, the attack showed glaring concerns once again, with Olaf Kobacki being a culprit for not quite showing enough firepower and threat down the wing, alongside Ugbo, who had surely ran out of opportunities to impress the German boss.

Rohl must take decisive action at this point and look to bring in Jamal Lowe, who was somewhat impressive in his previous start after getting an assist in the 2-1 victory away at Coventry City.

Lowe also hasn’t quite shown that goalscoring touch so far, with him bagging just one goal in the Plymouth Argyle victory, however a refresh in leading the line could potentially unlock the best out of the Owls in regards to attacking output.

Current Sheffield Wednesday formation will favour Jamal Lowe

It is evident that Sheffield Wednesday attacker Ugbo has struggled in the current set-up with him being the only striker. The Canadian international thrived in the back end of the 2023/24 campaign when he was one of two strikers leading the line, and it seems as if he is unable to replicate his brilliance in the alternative formation.

Bringing the ‘fantastic’ Lowe in would almost certainly see a striker deployed that is potentially more used to being the sole striker and this would also hopefully bring out the very best in the Sheffield Wednesday wingers, one of which could be Josh Windass, who is set to return to action for the game against Swansea City.
