Sheffield Wednesday fans have endured a rollercoaster of emotions in the early stages of the campaign.
There was much excitement at Hillsborough over the summer after a hectic transfer window saw Danny Rohl’s squad heavily reinforced.
Barring some more depth at centre-forward, Sheffield Wednesday looked to have a well-rounded squad capable of improving on their 2023/24 season, which saw them finish 20th in the Championship table.
A top-half finish was predicted for Sheffield Wednesday in the lead up to 2024/25 officially getting underway.
And things got off to a superb start when Rohl faced off with Wayne Rooney for the first time, with Sheffield Wednesday beating Plymouth Argyle 4-0.
However, the Owls then failed to win any of their following five Championship fixtures and were flirting with relegation.
Things have since improved and the Yorkshire outfit have taken seven points from the last nine available but who have been the standout performers for Wednesday this term and who has struggled…

Akin Famewo and Barry Bannan are the highest-rated Sheffield Wednesday players
With the October international break in full swing, we have taken a look at the highest and lowest-rated Wednesday stars this season, as per WhoScored.
Not too surprisingly, it is Barry Bannan who tops the list with an average rating of 7.07.
Russell Martin was recently full of praise for Bannan, calling him an outstanding footballer and ‘one of the most talented ones I’ve played with’.
Bannan has two league goals and one assist having played 783 minutes of league football so far this term.
Only just missing out on top spot to Bannan is defensive hero Akin Famewo, with a rating of 7.05.
His early-season form has been staggering and Sheffield Wednesday are in talks with Famewo over a new contract.

James Beadle and Ike Ugbo are the lowest-rated Sheffield Wednesday players
Callum Paterson is technically the lowest-rated Sheffield Wednesday player this season but he has only played one minute of football in 2024/25 so it is not really fair to include him on the list.
The second-lowest-rated Owls star, however, has had plenty of chances to prove himself but continues to disappoint.
The man in question is summer signing Ike Ugbo, who has a shockingly low rating of 6.01.
Ugbo has not been good enough for Sheffield Wednesday this season and once Rohl has more striking options available, it is easy to see the forward quickly falling out of favour.
The third-lowest-rated Wednesday star in the current campaign after nine outings is goalkeeper James Beadle with a rating of 6.18.
Dom Howson did back Beadle to go to the top recently but the shot-stopper has already shipped 15 goals in the league this term – a record that simply has to improve.
