Sheffield Wednesday played their final pre-season game on Saturday, hosting Spanish La Liga outfit Leganes.
Sheffield Wednesday welcomed La Liga new boys Leganes to Hillsborough on Saturday.
The game marks the final pre-season fixture of the summer and it was also Liam Palmer’s testimonial match too.
Palmer signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract earlier this summer and will enter his 14th season as a first-team player with the Owls.
The game finished 0-0 in the end. Result and performance to one side, the Sheffield Wednesday XI may be the one that we see vs Plymouth Argyle on the opening day of the 2024/25 Championship season next week.
The XI was a 4-2-3-1 formation with James Beadle in goal, Max Lowe, Akin Famewo, Dominic Iorfa, and Yan Valery in defence, Barry Bannan and Liam Palmer in midfield, Anthony Musaba, Josh Windass, and Djeidi Gassama in the attacking midfield positions, and Jamal Lowe up front.
After seeing that XI on Saturday, here are three questions that Sheffield Wednesday fans may have ahead of the Plymouth clash next week…

Will Di’Shon Bernard start for Sheffield Wednesday vs Plymouth
Di’Shon Bernard signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract this summer after technically becoming a free agent.
The centre-back is well-liked by fans and signing him on a three-year deal is seen as a very good bit of business for the Owls.
After a lengthy summer with Jamaica at Copa America, Bernard has had a stop-start pre-season with the Owls.
And he was surprisingly left out of the side to played Leganes on Saturday, with Famewo once again starting at centre-back in place of Bernard.
His absence is a bit of mystery, but it certainly suggests that he’s in need of a bit more rest, and that he won’t be in starting contention for Plymouth.

Does Liam Palmer start in midfield for Sheffield Wednesday vs Plymouth
Palmer remains a very versatile and incredibly useful player for Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday.
He showed every aspect of his game last season featuring primarily at right-back and in the centre of midfield.
Palmer obviously had to start his testimonial match. And midfield seems like where he might feature the most next season with Valery and Pol Valentin being two very good right-back options.
Svante Ingelsson though looks like Rohl’s preferred option in the middle with Bannan, with Rohl recently explaining that Ingelsson will add pace and drive to the midfield.

The no.10 and no.9 positions could be up for grabs at Sheffield Wednesday
Against Leganes, Jamal Lowe started up front with Windass behind.
At the end of last season though, Windass was the no.9, and he showed his class there too.
Rohl clearly likes Windass and wants him on the pitch as often as possible, even if that means playing him in a deeper attacking role.
With some new options up top in Lowe, McNeill and then the likes of Bailey Cadamarteri, we could see the no.9 spot swap between a few different players next season.
Windass though could be forced to play in that no.10 role with not too many central attacking midfielders in the Sheffield Wednesday first-team.
