Sheffield Wednesday continued on their journey in this season’s Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Current Wednesday boss Danny Rohl came up against a former Owls manager in Steve Bruce, who was appointed Blackpool manager at the start of September.

Sheffield Wednesday beat Hull City in the opening round of the Carabao Cup this season, then thumping Grimsby Town 5-1.

And the Owls are into the hat for the fourth round following a 1-0 win at Bloomfield Road, with Di’Shon Bernard scoring his first Wednesday goal during the first half.

Joe Crann wowed by Svante Ingelsson performance vs Blackpool

As expected, Rohl made several changes to his Sheffield Wednesday XI for the game vs Blackpool.

Academy pair Sean Fusire and Gabriel Otegbayo came in, with summer signing and club Player of the Month for August Svante Ingelsson starting too.

The Swede hadn’t started since the 2-0 defeat vs Leeds United at Hillsborough last month, following the arrival of Shea Charles.

Ingelsson is a well-liked player among fans and he showed his class in the early stages of the game vs Blackpool in particular.

Ingelsson pulled off some neat passes which aught the eye of journalist Joe Crann, who posted on X:

Danny Rohl facing unavoidable midfield dilemma at Sheffield Wednesday

The midfield pairing has been a major talking point among Owls fans this season.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been critical of Barry Bannan this season, but the long-term Owls skipper impressed during the 1-1 draw vs QPR last time out.

And Rohl needs Charles to provide that steel in front of the defence, but it’s proving difficult to keep Ingelsson out of the XI.

As games come thick and fast, Rohl might chop and change between Bannan and Ingelsson, or he might even try and formulate a way of getting all three in the XI.

Either way, Rohl has a very good option in Ingelsson, and the more football he plays, the more he’ll become acclimatised to English football and to Rohl’s style of play.

Sheffield Wednesday’s next fixture is against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road this weekend.
