Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl got back to winning ways on Tuesday night.
Sheffield Wednesday beat Grimsby Town 5-1 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, bouncing back from successive defeats in the Championship.
Danny Rohl watched a poor first half, though, with his side going into the break 1-0 behind.
But Rohl made some changes and watched his side complete an emphatic comeback, with goals from Ike Ugbo, Jamal Lowe, Pol Valentin, and two from Callum Paterson.
It’s a timely win for the Owls. In their previous game, Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 vs Leeds United at Hillsborough, which followed a 4-0 defeat vs Sunderland the weekend before.
Those defeats dampened the mood among Wednesday fans, who were highly optimistic about their side’s chances this season following what’s been a strong summer transfer window.
Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have been stating their concerns on social media; about Rohl’s inexperience and about a potential lack of star quality in the first-team squad right now.
After the win vs Grimsby, Rohl was quizzed on the mood change among fans.

Speaking to BBC reporter Rob Staton, Rohl was asked about how the ‘mood changes’ among supporters following a couple of bad results.
Rohl said: “You speak about a couple of bad results; we played against a Leeds side, and we played in Sunderland, they also have a good team.”
Rohl added: “But to understand also the Championship and our team, where we want to go, it takes a little bit [of time].
“I think we create a good environment. You see which players we can get in, this is also a good signal, and from this point we go forward.”
Sheffield Wednesday dealt early reality check, but it can be a good thing
Many were tipping Sheffield Wednesday to be dark horses in the play-off race this season.
But those defeats vs Leeds and Sunderland have dealt the Owls a reality check.
And whilst it may be hard to stomach, it’s a timely reminder that Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday revolution is still in it’s early days.
He’s only had one summer transfer window and pre-season to get his ideas truly across, and this remains his first full season in management.
Patience is needed, as Rohl has suggested in his above comments.
But, compared to last season, Sheffield Wednesday are certainly making huge improvements under Rohl.
