Sheffield Wednesday have a lot of work to do in the final days of the transfer window.
Despite already signing ten new players this summer, the Owls are eager to make further additions before the deadline.
The Yorkshire outfit are pushing to sign a new striker after missing out on Mark O’Mahony to Portsmouth, while they are reportedly close to sealing a loan deal for Shea Charles.
Danny Rohl has also previously admitted that he wants to bring in a new centre-back, but rumours have been fairly quiet on that front.
Sheffield Wednesday’s need for new faces has become more apparent after back-to-back defeats to Sunderland and Leeds United.
Rohl sent clear transfer message
Journalist Dom Howson believes the Owls’ best-performing player ‘tells you everything’ about their recent performances and has urged to club to spend some money.
He wrote on X: “Wednesday’s best player? Beadle for the second match running. He has kept the score down. Tells you everything you need to know about how #SWFC have performed vs Sunderland and Leeds. An injection of quality needed all over the pitch before the window closes.”
Sheffield Wednesday need to look at their defence
Wednesday have conceded six goals in two games now, having trusted the same backline that got dominated by Sunderland.
Their struggles suggested that the Owls could really benefit from a boost in defence, with Dominic Iorfa the likely suspect who could be dropped to the bench.
They have already picked up two new full-backs and fans have seen what they are capable of from the win over Plymouth, but they have struggled to replicate that display since.
Rohl still has options there though, with Marvin Johnson’s performance in the Carabao Cup surely putting him in consideration for his place back in the starting line-up if things continue to look pear shaped.
Wednesday’s midfield will look a lot stronger if the deal for Charles goes through, as well as Nathaniel Chalobah’s return to full fitness.
As for the attack, it seems about time that Ike Ugbo was given the No. 9 spot and trusted to do what he did so well last term.
Anthony Musaba, Djeidi Gassama and Olaf Kobacki all have high ceilings and can surely impress at their best, but it is getting the best out of them that Rohl needs to focus on.
Beadle has been great since returning to Hillsborough, but Wednesday definitely don’t want him to be man of the match every week and need improvements all round to prevent that.
