Sheffield Wednesday got back to inning ways on Tuesday night.
Sheffield Wednesday claimed a much-needed win in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
The Owls headed to Grimsby Town and were a goal down at half-time.
But Danny Rohl inspired an emphatic comeback with some half-time changes, watching his side eventually win the game 5-1.
Ike Ugbo got the Owls back in the game and Jamal Lowe got them in front, before a brace from Callum Paterson and a rare goal for Pol Valentin sealed the win.
Rohl made 11 changes to his starting side once again ahead of a tough trip to Millwall in the Championship this weekend.
One player who was left out of the side that travelled to Grimsby Town was Michael Smith.
The striker has featured four times in all competitions this season, starting the Carabao Cup win vs Hull City and scoring in the 4-0 win vs Plymouth Argyle.
But the striker seems to face an uncertain future at the club.
Danny Rohl comments on Michael Smith’s Sheffield Wednesday future
Smith has been linked with a move away from Sheffield Wednesday this summer, with Wrexham among the teams thought to be interested.
The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season, having been in and out of Rohl’s first-team plans at Hillsborough.
Speaking to The Star, Rohl said of Smith: “He trained in the morning. Let’s see with Michael what happens there.
“In the morning I had a good conversation with him, he is a great character and in January we made a decision and he played a lot in the second leg. Maybe more than he expected.
“Let’s see where we are on Friday and when you can ask me again with transfers.”

Sheffield Wednesday can avoid transfer calamity by keeping Michael Smith
In the opening games of this season, Smith has been a bright spark.
He showed in the game against Hull and when he came on vs Sunderland that he’s a hard-working striker, who also boasts perhaps more technical ability than most give him credit for.
But it looks like owner Dejphon Chansiri is keen to free up some space in the wage bill and make some money back in the transfer market, and Smith looks like one who’s up for sale this summer.
Whilst the financial side of the game is a balancing act, so too is the playing side, and Rohl has surely seen enough in these opening stages to want to keep Smith for the remainder of the season.
He compliments the current striking options at Wednesday in that he’s more of a target man than anyone else, and with Bailey Cadamarteri expected to head out on loan, if Smith leaves then striker options all of sudden seem low.
If Rohl has the chance to keep Smith, he should. But then again, if Smith wants to leave, it may make financial sense.
