But the Owls go into this midweek clash on the back of a much-needed and impressive win, having beaten West Brom 3-2 last weekend.

Last season, Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 v Bristol City at Ashton Gate, in a game where Barry Bannan got sent off after just half-an-hour, with the Owls then winning the reverse fixture 2-1 at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday certainly go into this one in a strong vein of form, even if recent results don’t necessarily suggest so.
Rohl’s side have lost one of their last three in the Championship. But since the September international break, the Owls have looked much better, and have been unlucky in games against QPR and Luton Town.
That win v West Brom is a real sturdy building block for Wednesday to start moving up the table from, and EFL pundit Sam Parkin has backed them to take something from the game v Bristol City.
He said on the Championship Check-In podcast: “I think Sheffield Wednesday will get something, off the back of their last two performances, so for that reason I’m going to play another 1-1.”

Hillsborough has long been a fortress for the Owls. But for Rohl, picking up wins and points on the road this season may be more of a true sign of his side’s strength.
West Brom knew they would’ve been in for a tough game last weekend and whilst the table suggested a one-sided game, a Wednesday win wasn’t all that surprising.
But a win at Bristol City on Wednesday would certainly be a surprise result, with Bristol City a stubborn Championship side and often formidable at home.
The Robins are unbeaten at home this season. They’ve taken seven points from three games at Ashton Gate having beaten Millwall and Oxford United at home, drawing with Coventry City.
For Wednesday, shutting up shop at Bristol City might be a safe bet, then trying to hit Bristol City on the counter.
