Danny Rohl doesn’t believe that the Sheffield Wednesday fans were in full voice on Saturday afternoon.
Saturday saw Sheffield Wednesday take on West Brom at Hillsborough, with the Baggies going into this weekend as the Championship leaders.
The Owls started the weekend in 21st place of the Championship table but have moved out of the drop zone with a 3-2 win against West Brom.
Josh Windass scored an impressive header in what was arguably the pick of the goals on the day, with good individual performances across the pitch.
Rob Staton hailed Shea Charles after the game. Elsewhere, Barry Bannan put in another good performance following his sluggish start to the season.
It’s a first win in five league games for Danny Rohl’s side and only a second win of the season too.
For Sheffield Wednesday fans, this season has been a frustrating one overall, although their two wins have both been very well-earned, and very entertaining too.

Danny Rohl surprised by Sheffield Wednesday fans against West Brom
And it seems as though this mixed 2024/25 season so far has caused fans to become slightly quieter than usual, at least in the eyes of Rohl.
He doesn’t think that Sheffield Wednesday fans were in full voice against West Brom, even when they were leading 2-0 at half-time.
But Hillsborough erupted late on when Antony Musaba scored his first of the season and Wednesday’s third on the day, snatching the late 3-2 win.
Speaking to Staton after the game, Rohl said: “I must say, after the 3-2, it was the first time in the stadium that I felt the energy from the stands.
“Today, even when we lead 2-0, it was very quiet. I think my team deserved the support again and again.”

Sheffield Wednesday silence can be explained
For Sheffield Wednesday; a team who’ve started so poorly and have had very little luck this season, going 2-0 up against the league leaders was a scary thing.
For many fans, it may have felt inevitable that West Brom would eventually get back into the game and so that might explain a somewhat subdued atmosphere at 2-0 up.
West Brom did, of course, get back in the game. But when Musaba scored the winner, the fans found their voice, knowing that that goal was likely to be the winning goal.
