Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has said he does not believe Barry Bannan should have been sent off in the 1-0 defeat to Bristol City.
Wednesday suffered another loss on Saturday afternoon at Ashton Gate courtesy of a 64th minute goal from Robins’ centre back Rob Dickie.
The Owls did spend the majority of the game down to ten men following the straight red card given to midfielder Barry Bannan on the half-hour mark after he tripped up Jason Knight on the edge of the box.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star following the defeat, Danny Rohl believes that Bannan did commit a foul, but not one worthy of a straight red card.
“I think it was a foul,” he explained.
“But for me it was not really clear because behind the foul in the box there was the goalkeeper and the defender – that’s two guys in front of the goal, so for me if it was not the last man then it’s not a red card, but maybe I need to ask the ref about this rule.
“In the end you have to accept this, it’s football, and for me the reaction from my team was outstanding.”
Wednesday unlucky
Ultimately, it is hard not to say that Bannan’s sending off was a major catalyst for Wednesday’s defeat.
Nonetheless, Rohl is proud of his players and as he should be, as they kept themselves in the match for the whole game, despite being down to ten men for over an hour.
Rohl will be hoping to secure his second win as Wednesday boss when they host managerless Millwall this Saturday afternoon.
