Sheffield Wednesday had an unlikely match-winner vs Blackpool on Tuesday night.
Sheffield Wednesday headed to Bloomfield Road to face League One Blackpool in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Blackpool recently appointed Steve Bruce as manager, but the former Owls boss couldn’t get one over his former team.
Danny Rohl guided Wednesday to a 1-0 win vs Blackpool, having now won all three of their Carabao Cup games this season, seeing themselves into the fourth round.
Rohl will be hoping that his side’s strong form in the cup can soon translate into the Championship.
Sheffield Wednesday currently sit in 20th place of the Championship table and are winless since their opening day win vs Plymouth Argyle.
On Tuesday, Rohl made several changes, and Wednesday were certainly the better team.
Di’Shon Bernard returned to the XI after starting on the bench for the 1-1 draw vs QPR last weekend.
And the former Manchester United man scored his first goal for the Owls on Tuesday.

Bernard became a free agent during the summer, and was a free agent for a number of weeks as he took part in Copa America with Jamaica.
But Bernard signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract ahead of this season, putting pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.
He featured 32 times in the Championship last season and has since played in all five of Wednesday’s league games this time round, starting and finishing four of them.
After netting his first goal for the club at Blackpool, Bernard posted this message on X:

Sheffield Wednesday have been goal-shy since their win vs Plymouth.
Last weekend, Barry Bannan’s goal v QPR ended a run of three games without a goal for Wednesday.
With the likes of Josh Windass misfiring, and Ike Ugbo yet to get off the mark in the Championship this season, Rohl will hope that players across the pitch can chip in with goals.
Bernard is a tall player and so he can be a threat from set-pieces, and he showed with his finish vs Blackpool that he might well have a nous for goal.
It’s been a rocky start to the 2024/25 season for both Bernard and Sheffield Wednesday.
But he was a key player last season and this goal might give him some confidence to get back to his best for Rohl.
