Sheffield Wednesday got a much-needed win on Tuesday.
Albeit in the Carabao Cup, and against League One opposition in Blackpool, Sheffield Wednesday claimed a welcome win on Tuesday.
Di’Shon Bernard scored the only goal as the Owls beat Steve Bruce‘s Seasiders to book their spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Svante Ingelsson impressed vs Blackpool, whilst Danny Rohl reserved praise for Sean Fusire as he continues his run of starts in the cup.
Ahead of the game, there were rumours that Pol Valentin has interest from Maccabi Tel Aviv; the reports were then confirmed by journalist Joe Crann on X.
Sheffield Wednesday signed Valentin last summer, paying Sporting Gijon an undisclosed fee for the 27-year-old right-back.
The Spaniard featured 36 times in the Championship last season and became a very well-liked player at Hillsborough.
Labelled Sheffield Wednesday’s most-improved player at one point, Valentin has since lost his starting spot to Yan Valery, but has still featured in all five Championship games this season.

Danny Rohl responds to Pol Valentin transfer interest at Sheffield Wednesday
Speaking to BBC reporter Rob Staton after the game vs Blackpool, Rohl was quizzed on interest in Valentin.
And Rohl completely shut down a potential transfer exit for Valentin, highlighting the importance of having competition at right-back.
Rohl said: “He is part of my squad. We need the competition at the right full-back position. That’s for me, no. No question mark.”

Why Pol Valentin is so crucial for Sheffield Wednesday
Last season, Valentin showed huge improvements in his game; he’s a very dynamic right-back who can bomb forward, but also do the defensive side of the game very well.
He’s also someone who never seems to burn out in games and that makes him ideal for the fast-paced style of play at Wednesday.
With Valery and Valentin the only out and out right-backs, as Liam Palmer is viewed as more of a utility man under Rohl, keeping both Valery and Valentin is crucial for Rohl.
Like the Owls boss says, it keeps competition rife and gives him depth in that position too.
Valentin will be hoping to eventually work his way back into the XI with Valery having received a couple of mixed reviews this season.
He’s certainly a key player in the first-team squad though, and a dependable name when called upon.
