Sheffield Wednesday return to Championship action this weekend, with a visit from 3rd place Burnley.

Sheffield Wednesday are back to Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon where they entertain Scott Parker’s Burnley.

The Owls went into this month’s international break on the back of an impressive 2-1 win at Coventry City, leaving them in 15th place of the Championship table.

Danny Rohl’s side have taken seven points from their last three Championship games, whereas Parker’s Clarets have lost just one league game all season.

Burnley are just one point from the top spot in 3rd right now. But they’ve won just one of their last three, drawing 0-0 at Preston last time out.

Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley haven’t played each other since 2016, with their last meeting being a 1-1 draw at Hillsborough with Kieran Lee on the scoresheet for Wednesday, and Andre Gray for the Clarets.

Sam Parkin shares Sheffield Wednesday vs Burnley score prediction

Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast ahead of this weekend, EFL pundit Sam Parkin gave his score prediction for the game between Wednesday and Burnley.

Before the international break, Parkin correctly predicted a 2-1 Wednesday win at Coventry, and he’s predicting a 2-2 scoreline at Hillsborough this weekend.

He said: “I can’t see them [Burnley] losing at Hillsborough. Burnley are picking up points, they’re 3rd in the table, they’ve lost one game.

“There’s a lot of draws, there’s a lot of games that are decided by the odd goal. I’m going to take a draw, I’ll have another 2-2.”

Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley team news latest

Both teams have a few absentees ahead of this weekend, with Di’Shon Bernard likely to miss out after sustaining a muscle injury during the break.

He was withdrawn from international duty with Jamaica and joins the likes of Nathaniel Chalobah on the sidelines for Sheffield Wednesday.

Liam Palmer sustained a muscle injury before the break, but little is known about his fitness yet.

Meanwhile, Olaf Kobacki scored against Aston Villa in a friendly match during the break, suggesting that he’s back to fitness now.

For Burnley, striker Lyle Foster picked up a knee injury whilst on international duty with South Africa this month and now looks set to miss this weekend.

Kick off between Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley is at 3pm on Saturday, with a win able to lift the Owls into the top half of the table.
