Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a move to bring former loan player Ian Poveda back to Hillsborough.
In the January transfer window during the 2023/24 Championship campaign, Danny Rohl was able to completely turn the tide of the season with shrewd business when regarding loan signings.
Not all played up to the best of their abilities, such as Kristian Pederson, who couldn’t quite cement a place in the starting lineup, however the likes of James Beadle and Ike Ugbo certainly played far beyond their expectations.
Beadle has already re-joined in S6 on a season loan following his half-a-season spell last season, in which he was crucial in keeping the Owls in the Championship, especially with his two clean sheets on the final two games of the campaign.
Sheffield Wednesday remain interested in bringing Ugbo back to Hillsborough, but a deal has not quite progressed so far.
However, Rohl has issued an update on the pursuit of former Sheffield Wednesday loanee Ian Poveda, one which has gone quiet over the past few weeks.

Poveda is currently a free agent after his contract at Leeds United expired this summer.
He spent the latter half of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, having made quite the impression in his few games played, despite not finding the back of the net.
When quizzed on whether Sheffield Wednesday are still pursuing a deal for Poveda, Rohl said to The Star: “ We can’t make every deal immediately done because the player wants this, this or this.
“We have some principles, we have to, but we are looking for solutions and this is always part of the business. Sometimes it goes quicker, sometimes it takes more time.
“We had some crucial players last season in the second half that improved our squad, but we’ve also brought some good players from outside into our squad, and this is a good balance, a good mix. We’ll keep going.”

It’s clear that new arrivals praise the work of Rohl when they sign for Sheffield Wednesday, such as the likes of Jamal Lowe, who had an hour-long call with the German boss prior to him signing.
Current players who have signed new contracts have also credited Rohl for being the reason they have extended their stay in S6, such as Josh Windass.
With it being clear that Sheffield Wednesday are unlikely to be involved in a relegation dog-fight in the 2024/25 season, former players are more than happy to apply their trade at Hillsborough, with it being clear that the club has developed massively over the past six months.
Poveda thrived in the few games he had under Rohl before injuries plagued the end of his season, and he will be aware that the German manager can give him the confidence to play at his peak.
Rohl has handled the transfer window spectacularly so far this season, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Sheffield Wednesday were able to follow suit of their previous additions and bring Poveda through the doors, despite the ongoing need to ‘find solutions’.
