Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Josh Windass has signed a new contract with the club.
Windass was one of numerous players whose contracts expired at the end of the season for Sheffield Wednesday.
Their future was in huge doubt as they looked set for relegation, but their survival gave fans hope that many of their key players would stay.
After Liam Palmer and Barry Bannan put pen to paper, it looked like Windass would quickly join them.
However, contract talks appeared to hit a snag and the midfielder looked set to leave Yorkshire on a free transfer.
With negotiations back on track over the past week, it has now been confirmed that he has extended his stay at Hillsborough.

Windass was photographed sporting the club’s new away kit as he committed his future to the Owls.
With the drawn-out saga now coming to an end, the 30-year-old has shared his delight at his new deal.
He wrote on X: “Delighted to stay at this club. Took a while but we got there in the end. Huge thankyou to Danny and his staff! Let’s go.”
The midfielder’s positive impact doesn’t go unnoticed
Windass’ future was unclear after missing a chunk of the campaign due to injury, with some fans complaining about his hefty wages going unproven.
However, once he came back into the team he really excelled under Danny Rohl and netted in the last three games of the campaign.
Despite only making 22 starts, Windass had the most shots in the squad (52), the fourth-most key passes (29) and had the second-most goal contributions (9).
He had previously hailed the German coach as the best he had ever worked with, so it would have come as a surprise if he had opted to leave.
Windass will likely have a lot of competition for his place in the starting line-up next season, but Rohl obviously really likes him and some fresh competition could see the team get the best out of him.
It’s another step in the right direction for Wednesday, who will now put their focus into extending the contracts of Dominic Iorfa and Di’Shon Bernard.
