Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has outlined his ambitions for the club in the 2024/25 Championship season.
Sheffield Wednesday secured their Championship status for the 2024/25 campaign after achieving an impressive 20th place finish under Danny Rohl last time round.
The Owls looked doomed for much of the campaign. But Sheffield Wednesday under Rohl won their final three games of the season and ended the campaign on 53 points.
Hopes and expectation are high for next season following the club’s impressive turnaround under Rohl and the club’s equally impressive start to this summer’s transfer window.
On Friday, Sheffield Wednesday announced the signing of Svante Ingelsson from German outfit Hansa Rostock; he becomes the Owls’ fourth signing of the summer transfer window already.
Speaking upon the players’ return to pre-season training, Rohl discussed the upcoming season in the Championship, and his ambitions for the Owls in 2024/25.

Speaking upon the players’ return to pre-season training, Rohl was asked by the club what he wants to achieve with the team next season.
He highlights a continuation of the fast and intense style of play, saying: “I think when we look forward then we want to play great football.
“We want to attack. We want to be brave. We want to make courageous decisions. We want to entertain our fans. And at the end we want to get the right results.
“If you follow our way and play our game, with our intensity, then I think the wins and the success will come, of course.
“But what we can not do it’s about our last season. It wasn’t easy and we have to keep going, and we have to push, and it means you have to do more than last season, to improve and develop as a club.”
The most important thing for Sheffield Wednesday and Danny Rohl
First and foremost, Sheffield Wednesday need to achieve a much more comfortable league finish next time round.
But for Rohl, perhaps the most important thing other than Championship safety is embedding a philosophy and a mantra at Sheffield Wednesday.
He installed a distinct and aggressive style of play during his first half-season in charge and he’ll no doubt look to continue that into next season.
His above comments suggest that Rohl is more keen to further imprint that philosophy, instead of making predictions on where the Owls might finish in the Championship next season.
The players signed so far suggest that Rohl is putting together a very technical team and that he wants to add further quality and pedigree to his side.
It also look like Rohl is trying to bring the average age of his side down slightly with Sheffield Wednesday boasting the third-oldest team in the Championship last time round.
But one thing is certain, and that’s that next season looks set to be a lot more positive for Sheffield Wednesday than the last.
