Sheffield Wednesday attacker Jamal Lowe has opened up on his first conversation with Danny Rohl.
Sheffield Wednesday have shown ambition more than many Championship clubs ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season with the signings brought in at Hillsborough Stadium.
Danny Rohl’s attacking options have changed significantly over the summer period, with Polish winger Olaf Kobacki coming through the door with a proven goalscoring record from abroad.
Former Manchester United youngster Charlie McNeill has also joined up with Rohl’s ever-growing squad ahead of the new campaign, making it a total of eight arrivals for Sheffield Wednesday.
Former Sheffield Wednesday striker Ike Ugbo has also been of interest to Rohl for the entire summer, with the Owls submitting their first official bid for the Canadian.
Jamal Lowe has also arrived with proven Championship goal scoring prowess, with the former Bournemouth man opening up on his first conversation with Rohl.

Sheffield Wednesday’s Jamal Lowe on ‘refreshing’ phone call with Danny Rohl that ‘mirrored’ his ambitions
Sheffield Wednesday new signing Lowe has said how a ‘refreshing’ hour long phone call with German boss Rohl convinced him to join the Owls.
Per Football Heaven on X, Lowe said: “When he first called me, we had an hour phone call which is obviously nice with someone that you’ve never met before to be able to speak for that long about football and his ideas on football.
“It was refreshing because as you can imagine speaking to a stranger for an hour isn’t easy but it was an easy conversation, it flowed well.
“I’m quite an ambitious person career wise.
“I always want to push for more, strive for more, go as high as I can and he basically mirrored those same ambitions and that is a major thing for me.”
The striker isn’t the only new Sheffield Wednesday arrival to credit Rohl following their arrival at the club, with new man McNeill also thanking the German following his arrival.
How Danny Rohl’s connection with players gets the best out of the Sheffield Wednesday squad
Lowe arrives at Hillsborough after scoring nine goals for Swansea City last season in 35 games.
His overall Championship record stretched across spells at Swansea City, Bournemouth and QPR have seen him return with a respectable 51 goal contributions in 186 matches.
It’s clear that Rohl has brought in a player with plenty of Championship goal scoring promise, and there aren’t many better people-manager’s than the German.
The German having a full hour conversation with just another transfer target shows how much consideration goes into who he brings in, and how he prioritises the player above all.
At one point during the 2023/24 Championship campaign, Rohl turned academy product Bailey Cadamarteri into a player who didn’t look out of place in the Championship.
Rohl has already left a positive impression on Lowe, which can do nothing but help the Jamaican international find his feet quickly.
Lowe will prove to be a massive asset in Rohl’s squad, who are looking to carry on the momentum from last season and maybe surprise a few by gunning for the play-offs.
