Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Charlie McNeill, with the attacker praising Danny Rohl after joining.

Sheffield Wednesday have now taken their total of transfer arrivals to eight prior to the 2024/25 Championship season.

The signings of Yan Valery and Max Lowe, who arrive in S6 with Premier League experience, have smashed the transfer expectations of Sheffield Wednesday fans.

They have also brought in Svante Ingelsson and Olaf Kobacki from abroad, with the latter being signed to add goal scoring prowess to Sheffield Wednesday’s ranks.

Jamal Lowe has also been brought in with an expectation of bagging goals at Championship level.

Experienced goalkeeper Ben Hamer and James Beadle’s return have also massively bolstered Sheffield Wednesday’s options this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday’s 8th summer signing Charlie McNeill has also officially signed a deal at the club, and he didn’t shy away from praising German boss Danny Rohl following his arrival.

Charlie McNeill praises Danny Rohl’s ‘style of play’ and how it ‘appealed’ to sign for Sheffield Wednesday

McNeill arrives at Hillsborough Stadium having previously spent time and both Manchester United and Manchester City as a youngster.

Speaking to the club on Youtube, McNeill said: “In April last season, I came here under Danny [Rohl] and really liked it.

“Again his style of play and everything and you know that’s what that’s what really made me want to join the club.

“His style of play and everything about how he is as a manager, how he wants to help young players and build a good team [made me want to join] so yeah, everything appealed to me which was why I really wanted to join the club.”

What will Charlie McNeill provide for Sheffield Wednesday this season

The attacker has arrived at Hillsborough Stadium having spent two separate loan spells Newport County and Stevenage.

McNeill was utilised as a striker in his time with Newport County, bagging two goals in 20 appearances, whilst his loan at Stevenage in League One saw the youngster get limited game time, despite scoring on his debut away to Leyton Orient in a 3-0 win.

The striker has been given limited opportunities when it comes to first team football, however his goal scoring prowess is clearly evident from his time in youth football, most notably the U18 Premier League, where he scored a ridiculous 24 goals in 21 matches for Manchester United.

It’s likely that Charlie McNeill won’t be a starting striker for Rohl’s side, however he could provide necessary depth in the position that will come in handy, particularly at the business end of the season.

With the striker being just 20-years-old, he is far from being the finished product and could turn into a brilliant Championship goalscorer, especially under Rohl who has a track record of getting the best out of youngsters.
