Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl is still looking to bring the forward back to Hillsborough.
Sheffield Wednesday have had a brilliant pre-season in terms of getting bodies through the door, with big names such as former Premier League wing-backs Yan Valery and Max Lowe bolstering Danny Rohl’s options ahead of the 2024/25 Championship season.
Their attacking options have also been transformed, with Olaf Kobacki being brought in and instantly impressing Wednesday fans at the pre-season friendly against Alfreton Town.
Rohl is also set to seal the signing of sought after attacker Charlie McNeill for free after the expiry of his contract at Manchester United, despite Lazio and Torino showing interest in the youngster.
Despite Sheffield Wednesday having done all but confirm the signing of McNeill, they are still reportedly pursuing the signing of a former loanee who set Hillsborough alight in his last spell at the club.

Sheffield Wednesday still interested in Ike Ugbo despite Charlie McNeill transfer
Charlie McNeill’s arrival at Hillsborough Stadium has not left Sheffield Wednesday short-sighted when scouting out further targets, with former loanee Ike Ugbo still very much a player Rohl is interested in bringing back ahead of the 2024/25 Championship campaign, per The Star.
The Canadian’s future at parent club Troyes has been in doubt over the entire summer, with Sheffield Wednesday’s latest transfer activity still showing ‘no sign of slowing down’.
Ugbo joined up with Sheffield Wednesday in the 2023/24 January transfer window on loan from the French club, scoring seven goals and contributing to the Owls’ great escape that saw the South Yorkshire outfit stay up on the final day of the season after three straight victories.

Should Sheffield Wednesday stick or twist on Ike Ugbo transfer
Sheffield Wednesday have played the transfer window up until this point absolutely perfectly.
Premier League and Championship experience has been brought in by Rohl, as well as attacking excellence in the wide areas.
McNeill, as well as former Bournemouth attacker Jamal Lowe have also been brought in to the squad, however it feels as if another striker should be brought in with a guarantee of goals.
Ugbo provided a goalscoring threat last season in his short spell, and it was clear that Rohl was a massive fan of the ‘strong‘ forward.
However, lingering on the same transfer target could leave Sheffield Wednesday sleepwalking to the start of the transfer window without another striker.
Rohl may have to make a decision in the near future on Ugbo and whether there are any better options than the former Cardiff City striker.
Sory Kaba was an option for the Owls at one point, however news on that front has gone quiet since.
Ugbo will be perfect ahead of the Championship season, especially considering he has already excelled under Rohl, however Sheffield Wednesday shouldn’t linger on attaining an attacking target and be proactive in finding an alternative to the Canadian.
