Sheffield Wednesday and their early optimism has taken quite the hit.
Going into this 2024/25 Championship season, there was a lot of hype around Sheffield Wednesday, and a lot of optimism among fans.
After Danny Rohl guided the club to safety last season, he and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell went about a busy summer transfer window.
After Ike Ugbo re-signed for Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the month, the Owls have now signed 10 new players this summer.
And more are expected to arrive at Hillsborough before the August 30th deadline, with Sheffield Wednesday expected to sign Shea Charles on loan from Southampton.
Charles though will join an Owls side going through a tough patch.
Sheffield Wednesday lost 2-0 vs Leeds United on Friday night, having lost their last two Championship fixtures, failing to impress in either.
Rohl and his side now seem to be up against it in the early stages of this season, just a few weeks after thumping Plymouth Argyle 4-0 on the opening day.

Plymouth Argyle could snap up Sheffield Wednesday target Michael Baidoo
Since their opening day defeat at Hillsborough, Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth have shored up, claiming draws v Hull City and QPR.
And now, the Green Army could snap up a midfielder who was linked with Sheffield Wednesday earlier this summer; Michael Baidoo.
IF Elfsborg midfielder Baidoo, 25, has scored seven and assisted four more in 19 Allsvenskan appearance in 2024.
But report from Swedish outlet Sport Bladet says that Plymouth Argyle and Austrian outfit LASK have both bid for Baidoo.
It’s thought that LASK’s offer is currently higher, with Elfsborg manager Stefan Andreasson failing to rule out Baidoo’s summer exit.

What does Plymouth Argyle move for Michael Baidoo say about Sheffield Wednesday
There may be a lot of assumptions to take from Plymouth’s interest in Baidoo.
Perhaps the most concerning one would be that Sheffield Wednesday have gone from being a very attractive place to play, to not so, in the space of just a few weeks.
Earlier this month, Wednesday beat Plymouth 4-0, now Rooney’s side might win the race for an exciting player who was linked with a move to S6 earlier in the summer.
But it might be safer to assume that Sheffield Wednesday have other, more pressing transfer priorities right now; a defensive midfielder in Charles and perhaps a new centre-back as well.
Baidoo certainly looks like an exciting player and if Plymouth get a deal over the line, it’ll be a very impressive one.
