For Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday, it’s been a tough start to the 2024/25 season.
Danny Rohl was a huge talking point in the Championship going into this new 2024/25 season.
Then after an impressive 4-0 win vs Plymouth Argyle on the opening day of the season, the early hype seems justified.
But defeats vs Sunderland and then Leeds United last time out has quashed the hype.
Sheffield Wednesday fans are now wondering whether they’re in store for another tough season in the Championship despite what seemed like a very strong summer transfer window.
Perhaps the main concern right now is that Rohl doesn’t have a Plan B.
Teams seem to have quickly sussed out Sheffield Wednesday with both Sunderland and Leeds claiming quite comfortable wins over the Owls.
There’s time left in the summer transfer window for Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell to make some signings.
There’s also plenty of time in the season for Rohl to chop and change, and find a winning formula.

Danny Rohl’s Marvin Johnson dilemma at Sheffield Wednesday
Against Leeds, Rohl reverted to a back-five, changing from the usual 4-2-3-1 formation that we mostly see.
Max Lowe started in the left wing-back role. Like many others though, he’s yet to impress since the opening day win vs Plymouth.
It’s led to a handful of supporters on social media calling for Marvin Johnson to be reinstated to the team.
One fan posted on X: “Marvin Johnson is far better at defending, and attacks more than Max Lowe.
“It’s blatantly obvious.”
But Johnson has been limited to just substitute appearances in the Championship this season.
Last time round, Xisco Munoz completely exiled Johnson from the first-team, with Rohl bringing him back into the fold and watching him flourish.

Danny Rohl must avoid Xisco Munoz mistake at Sheffield Wednesday
Rohl will no doubt be eager for his new summer signings to settle in, improve the team and impress the fans.
But so for, few have, with Lowe one of a handful who may not be that much of an improvement on the pre-existing crop of Sheffield Wednesday players.
Reinstating Johnson into the starting XI, especially if Rohl plays a five-at-the-back formation vs Millwall next weekend, seems like a good change to make.
Johnson was a creative outlet for Rohl last season and he seems to have a bit more pace about him than Lowe.
Munoz learned following his Sheffield Wednesday exit that Johnson remains a quality Championship player.
And Rohl already knows he is, so now it’s time to bring him back into the XI.
