Sheffield Wednesday are currently linked with a few potential signings.

Having spent money on permanent signings this summer, including the £3million signing of Ike Ugbo and the signing of Yan Valery from Angers, it looks like Sheffield Wednesday will now target loans.

The owls are linked with a couple of players from Brighton right now; Mallick Yalcouye and Mark O’Mahony.

Rohl has liked Yalcouye for some time now and Sheffield Wednesday have held talks over a possible loan signing for the 18-year-old defensive midfielder.

And his Brighton teammate O’Mahony could join Yalcouye, and James Beadle, at Hillsborough this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday are hopeful of signing O’Mahony on loan this summer, with the Owls in talks with a number of strikers right now.

On Thursday morning, it was revealed that Sheffield Wednesday like Shea Charles at Southampton as well, suggesting that Rohl is keen on signing a defensive midfielder and a striker before the August 30th deadline.

Speaking ahead of the game against Leeds United on Friday, Rohl gave an update on transfers.

Danny Rohl on Sheffield Wednesday transfer state of play

There’s certainly a lot of names linked with Wednesday right now, and it also seems like Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell have a lot of irons in the fire.

But speaking to the press on Thursday afternoon, Rohl was asked whether or not any potential new signings are close, to which he simply replied: “Not yet.”

Sheffield Wednesday will look to avenge their 4-0 defeat vs Sunderland on Friday night when they welcome Leeds United to S6.

The focus for Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday right now

Sheffield Wednesday appear to have a few figures involved in the transfer process; Rohl of course, then Beadell, Dejphon Chansiri signing it off, with adviser Amadeu Paixao also involved in the process too.

But for Rohl, matters on the pitch right now may be as important as what transfer business the club gets done in the final week of August.

And getting a reaction from the players after that defeat vs Sunderland last weekend.

In front of the Hillsborough faithful, Rohl will be desperate to get a result, and show everyone that his Sheffield Wednesday side are contenders in the Championship this season.

But it may be that the Owls need a couple more additions to become contenders, so whilst focus is on the Leeds game, Rohl may also be paying a lot of attention to the transfer market.
