Sheffield Wednesday look set to add yet more players to their ranks this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday have already signed 10 players in this summer’s transfer window.

And before the August 30th deadline, it looks as though the Owls will add at least one or two players to their first-team squad.

Danny Rohl’s Sheffield Wednesday completed the signing of Ike Ugbo last week before getting off to a winning start in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday beat Plymouth Argyle 4-0 on Sky Sports and now find themselves top of the Championship table after the opening round of fixtures.

August is a busy month for Wednesday who next play Hull City in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, before Championship fixtures against Sunderland, Leeds United, and Millwall.

Getting transfer deals done won’t be easy for Rohl and head of recruitment Kevin Beadell; given the start of football and given the amount of clubs still looking for new signings this summer.

But Sheffield Wednesday appear to have one in their sights.

Sheffield Wednesday among front runners to sign Brighton’s Malick Yalcouye

Recently, Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with Malick Yalcouye at Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 18-year-old Malian central midfielder signed for Brighton last month, joining in a reported £6million move from Swedish outfit IFK Goteborg.

Now, an emerging report from The Star has revealed that Sheffield Wednesday are ‘among the front-runners for a season-long loan deal’ for Yalcouye.

The same report adds that Wednesday have been tracking the midfielder for some time now, and that the Owls contacted Brighton over a possible loan deal before the Seagulls had even closed a deal for the Yalcouye.

The risk that Sheffield Wednesday are taking with possible Malick Yalcouye deal

Yalcouye certainly seems like a prospect, and the fact that Brighton have brought him in at such a young age may tell us all we need to know about the player.

Brighton have made a good habit of bringing in unknown talents and watching them prosper.

For Wednesday though, in what is a very gruelling and physical Championship campaign, signing such a young and inexperienced player will have its risks.

Sheffield Wednesday certainly need depth in the midfield, but how Yalcouye would bed into the Championship, after what’s surely been a challenging summer arriving in a new country at such a young age, remains to be seen.

Rohl may benefit from having someone with a bit more experience. That said, Sheffield Wednesday clearly likely Yalcouye, and their transfer recruitment is yet to let them down.
