Sheffield Wednesday have been busy this summer, and they’re not done yet.
Sheffield Wednesday have been prolific in the transfer window this summer, having signed 10 new players in total.
Sheffield Wednesday signed Ike Ugbo earlier this month in what was their last signing, but it doesn’t look as though it’ll be their last signing of the summer itself.
Several names are linked with summer moves to Hillsborough, including Brighton Mallick Yalcouye and Fortuna Sittard’s Loreintz Rosier.
It seems clear that Danny Rohl wants a defensive midfielder, and one may well be needed after the 4-0 defeat vs Sunderland, but it’s more strikers that look set to arrive in S6.
Recent reports have revealed that Sheffield Wednesday hope to sign Mark O’Mahony on loan from Brighton before the August 30th deadline.
The Irish youngster featured three times in the Premier League for Brighton last season, but is now expected to head out loan and get some first-team experience in this 2024/25 season.

O’Mahony isn’t the only striker who Sheffield Wednesday are apparently keen on signing this summer.
Journalist Alex Miller says that Sheffield Wednesday have been ‘discussing’ possible deal for other strikers too.
But right now, Miller says it’s unclear whether Rohl wants more than one striker, or if O’Mahony is just one of several options being considered.
Already this summer, Sheffield Wednesday have bolstered their front-line with the signings of Ugbo, Jamal Lowe, and Charlie McNeill, whilst the likes of Michael Smith and Bailey Cadamarteri remain at the club too.
Further attacking signing suggests one thing at Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday have a pretty well-stocked front-line as it is, but the above update suggests that Rohl plans to chop and change throughout the season.
And that would indicate that Rohl intends for his side to play this current high press, intense style of football throughout the campaign.
And to do that, he’ll need a fit striker every week. If one or two strikers led the line all season, they’d quickly tire, and Wednesday’s high press would become ineffective.
O’Mahony looks like an unknown quantity, but coming from Brighton and having played in the Premier League, he’s surely someone with a lot of potential in the game.
And Brighton clearly trust Sheffield Wednesday to develop their youngsters, having already loaned James Beadle to the Owls this summer.
