Sheffield Wednesday predicted lineup vs Watford as Danny Rohl ponders tricky Max Lowe call

Sheffield Wednesday return to home soil this weekend, following a couple of really good away performances for the Owls.

Barring the first 45 minutes in last Friday’s 2-1 win at Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday have played a couple of really good games in their last two outings.

Both away from Hillsborough, Danny Rohl’s side came from behind to beat Portsmouth in the Championship, then taking Brentford to penalties in the Carabao Cup Fourth Round.

As things stand, Wednesday sit in 13th place of the Championship table and a win this weekend could take them into the top half of the table.

Saturday’s opponents Watford are already there. Tom Cleverley’s side sit in 7th and can move into the play-off places with a win at Wednesday.

Sheffield Wednesday team and injury news vs Watford with Akin Famewo blow revealed

Against Portsmouth, Akin Famewo was forced off with what looked like a nasty muscle injury in the thigh.

Then after the Brentford game, Rohl confirmed Famewo’s injury blow with the Sheffield Wednesday man facing months on the sidelines.

He joins Olaf Kobacki who’s injured for Sheffield Wednesday and also facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

During his Thursday press conference, Rohl said Michael Ihiekwe is making progress but still needs time before he returns to league action, having nursed an Achilles injury in recent weeks.

Sheffield Wednesday predicted lineup vs Watford, with huge Max Lowe call to make

With Famewo sidelined, and Ihiekwe sidelined for a while longer, Rohl has decisions to make in defence.

First off, Rohl changed to a back-four against Brentford and whilst they looked solid, the back-five has served them well in the league, so expected a revert to that.

In that case, Max Lowe surely starts in the left centre-back position as he did against Brentford, where he looked solid.

Marvin Johnson also impressed against Brentford and he no doubt starts in the left wing-back role if Lowe is in the middle.

Barry Bannan was rested for Sheffield Wednesday against Brentford, along with Shea Charles, so they return to the middle this weekend.

Up front, Michael Smith is tipped for a run in the Sheffield Wednesday XI, with six goal contributions in his last 13 for the Owls making him the club’s most prolific player this season.
