Sheffield Wednesday were thumped 4-0 away at Sunderland in the Championship on Sunday.
Sheffield Wednesday fans witnessed arguably the worst defensive display of Danny Rohl’s tenure during the first half of the game vs Sunderland.
The Owls started this season brightly with a 4-0 win vs Plymouth Argyle and then a 2-1 win vs Hull City in the Carabao Cup.
But playing their first league away game from Hillsborough, the Owls looked lost, and after a bright start at the Stadium of Light, the Owls quickly fell apart, conceding three goals in the space of 24 minutes.
Dennis Cirkin, Eliezer Mayenda, and Luke O’Nien scored goals for the home side who had a 3-0 lead at half-time.
There was hope that Rohl could work his magic at half-time and turn the tie around.
But Wednesday conceded the fourth and final game soon after the restart, condemning themselves to defeat.
Here are our Sheffield Wednesday player ratings for the game vs Sunderland…

James Beadle
Criticised for the second goal after a pass out to Josh Windass. Looked slightly out of position for the second too. Did pull off one good save before the break. 4/10
Yan Valery
Looked easily beaten in the first half. Caught out of position for the fourth goal. A poor defensive display from him. 4/10
Di’Shon Bernard
Far from his best. Didn’t command the defence like he should and didn’t look confident in possession. 4/10
Dominic Iorfa
Very similar to Di’Shon Bernard‘s performance. Nervy in and out of possession. Has so far been trusted with this centre-back spot but Michael Ihiekwe may be a better option. 4/10

Max Lowe
Not the worst player on the pitch but another who saw the game (and the Sunderland attacks) pass him by. 5/10
Barry Bannan
Not a classic for the Owls skipper. Couldn’t organise or motivate the players. Couldn’t pull the strings but showed determination in the second half. 5/10
Svante Ingelsson
Really didn’t do too much. Ran the Plymouth game with Bannan but looked lost at times vs Sunderland. Tried to create when he had the ball higher up, but nothing came off for the Swede. 4/10
Anthony Musaba
Looked up for it at the start. Quickly drifted out of the game, becoming one of many players who went missing. 4/10
Josh Windass
Got some stick on social media for his performance. Tried a neat flick on that Beadle pass for the second which gave Sunderland possession. Brought off in the second half. 4/10
Djeidi Gassama
Couple of nice touches and turns early doors. Did very little else before coming off before coming off at half-time. 5/10

Jamal Lowe
A very ‘nothing’ performance for Jamal Lowe. Not easy with the midfielders so far behind at times. Saw very little of the ball. 4/10
Michael Smith
Came on at the break. Held play up well when eh saw the ball, but ultimately couldn’t make a huge impact. 5/10
Substitutes: Liam Palmer 5/10, Pol Valentin 5/10
