Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City played out a less-than-entertaining 0-0 draw in the Championship on Wednesday.
Although not the most boring 0-0 ever witnessed, the game between Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City on Wednesday night certainly wasn’t a classic.
The Owls were on the backfoot in both halves. But Danny Rohl’s side had their chances and could well have knicked a goal.
In the end, Wednesday take a decent point back to Hillsborough. Here are five things we learned about Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday night…
James Beadle remains a key player
Goalkeeper James Beadle is often a talking point among fans. He’s got a tough task in this side being the man who not only stops goals, but starts a lot of attacking plays.
Rohl demands Beadle to play out from the back and when it doesn’t go his way, he’s heavily criticised.
He didn’t put a foot wrong against Bristol City. But it was his saves in the first half in particular that reminded us of his shot-stopping ability.

Ike Ugbo is completely isolated as a lone strike
Last season, Ike Ugbo was a hit with Sheffield Wednesday. This season, however, Ugbo is really struggling for form.
The current shape doesn’t seem to suit his style; last season he had three attacking midfield players behind him but right now it’s just two.
He can’t rely solely on the wing-backs to put balls into the box as a lot of the time, like against Bristol City, the wing-backs can’t get too far forward as they’re defending.
Rohl has a real conundrum with regards to Ugbo.
Marvin Johnson is much better going forward
Marvin Johnson has returned to the side in recent weeks, and combined with the formation change, Wednesday look a lot better.
But there remains question marks about his defensive game. Johnson was criticised last season in certain games against the likes of Ipswich Town.
He received some stick on social media during the Bristol City game too, often looing shaky when the Robins went forward.

Yan Valery is too hit and miss for Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday signed Yan Valery in the summer, and after the opening day win vs Plymouth Argyle, fans’ hype surrounding the signing was justified.
Since, Valery has been far too inconsistent. Some weeks, he’s unplayable. Other weeks, he’s either very poor, or just not with it.
The game vs Bristol City certainly felt like the later; he never looked his usual, comfortable self, playing stray passes and looking out of position.
Danny Rohl deploying the long ball
In the last few games, it’s become clear that Rohl has told Beadle and the defenders to go long at times.
It worked a treat against West Brom with Josh Windass scoring an impressive header from an Akin Famewo long ball.
Sheffield Wednesday played a couple of long balls against Bristol City and it caused them some issues.
It’s a new and useful aspect added to Wednesday’s game.
