Two Sheffield Wednesday academy products have been called up to the first team for training.
At Sheffield Wednesday there has been a huge emphasis on bringing in talent from the academy side to bolster the Owls’ squad.
Danny Rohl has certainly headed the necessity of looking towards the youth ranks, which saw Bailey Cadamarteri get a run of games in the Championship, and now he is furthering his development in a brilliant loan spell at Lincoln City.
Another example is Pierce Charles, who has astonishingly been handed a senior international call-up with Northern Ireland after being handed action in-between the sticks for Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup, where he massively impressed with his shot-stopping and ability playing the ball out from the back.
The German boss has looked to continue with this trend after promoting Sean Fusire to the first team, who has been consistently in-and-around training with Rohl’s squad. He has been joined in training by another two academy products, with one being just 14-years-of-age.

Sheffield Wednesday youngsters Caelan Cadamarteri and Will Grainger called up to first-team training
With so much importance being placed on Sheffield Wednesday handing opportunities to youngsters, it is no surprise to see academy products handed an opportunity to train with the first team, but it does raise a few eyebrows in this instance with the two players having a combined age of just 29.
Those two youngsters are Caelan Cadamarteri and Will Grainger, who, per Joe Crann on X, reportedly ‘trained’ with Sheffield Wednesday’s first team.
Caelan, younger brother of Bailey, has been in fine form for the under 18’s and has clearly impressed up until this point with his current goalscoring form.

Academy call ups express importance of Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday
In recent history, there have not been many coaches, let alone at Sheffield Wednesday, in the Championship that have sought to give opportunities to the younger ranks, and it is great that Rohl has noticed the brilliant results this can bring.
The younger players at the club that are currently plying their trade with the first team will certainly be aware of Rohl’s tendency to turn towards the academy, and this will without a doubt motivate everyone at the club to achieve a similar fate at such a young age.
Like Bailey Cadamarteri, there will likely be another diamond in-and-around the current academy, and the process that Rohl is undergoing by bringing them into the first team will without a doubt uncover that.
