One Sheffield Wednesday starlet could massively benefit from the return of one Owls player.
Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to build on their brilliant and unexpected victory against Championship high-flyers West Brom.
The game saw Danny Rohl’s side earn a deserved three points to put an end to their five game winless league run in the Championship, something that wasn’t reflective of previous decent performances put on by the Owls.
Sheffield Wednesday had several players perform brilliantly, and many stepped up despite injuries and suspensions currently limiting Rohl’s options.
The Owls’ attack particularly looked to be much improved as both Anthony Musaba and Josh Windass ended their goal drought, with the latter doing so in incredible fashion with a brilliantly executed looping header.
Aside from Musaba and Windass, Ike Ugbo was still not quite up to scratch against West Brom, and could easily be replaced after his continuing struggles in front of goal.
One other Sheffield Wednesday player looked to be improved against West Brom, however he has been far from consistent up until this point, despite starting every league game so far.

James Beadle will face competition from returning Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Ben Hamer
After picking up an injury following his arrival in S6, Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Ben Hamer is yet to be seen for the Owls, however he made his first appearance post-injury with the U21’s in a 2-1 victory against Birmingham City, where he played a full 90 minutes.
The experienced shot-stopper has vast experience in Championship football, with the 36-year-old tallying 158 appearances in the second-tier throughout his career, as well as 19 games in the Premier League.
Whilst it is expected that Hamer was brought in to be the second-choice to Brighton loanee James Beadle, he will certainly benefit from the competition and pressure that an experienced goalkeeper could come into the fray if his performances don’t become more consistent.

James Beadle will benefit from Ben Hamer competition
Whilst on many occasions Beadle has been Sheffield Wednesday’s saviour, he has had a few shaky moments in-between the sticks for Rohl’s side, including the Josh Maja strike at the weekend, where the goalkeeper looked to lack any real presence in the box, whilst also getting unexpectedly caught out for the leveller.
There is no doubt that this added pressure of Hamer’s return to 100% fitness will be massively beneficial for the Sheffield Wednesday shot-stopper, who, per Sofascore, has been the Owls’ third lowest rated player so far this season, with him conceding an average of two goals per game, as well as having a lacklustre 66% passing accuracy.
Hamer will also undoubtedly aid Beadle in training, which also could have a major benefit on the youngster in the coming weeks, and it will be crucial for Rohl’s side if his shot-stopper can pick up some consistency.
