Joe Crann was left impressed by one Sheffield Wednesday gem following the win vs West Brom.
Sheffield Wednesday surprisingly got back to winning ways as they saw off West Brom at Hillsborough Stadium.
The Owls have put in improved performances across the pitch in recent weeks, but now finally have a win to show for their efforts after last week’s controversial loss against Luton Town that was overshadowed by poor refereeing decisions.
Sheffield Wednesday attackers Josh Windass and Anthony Musaba both managed to get themselves on the scoresheet after both went through a goal draught since the season opener against Plymouth Argyle.
Danny Rohl’s side also looked much better on the defensive front, with Marvin Johnson surely tying down his spot in the side after an assured performance on the left flank, however he wasn’t the only top performer in the Owls’ backline as Joe Crann was left wowed by one individual performance.

Joe Crann hails Yan Valery after Sheffield Wednesday win
Yan Valery arrived this summer as one of Rohl’s top priority signings after the two previously worked together at Southampton in the Premier League.
Following a terrific league debut against Plymouth Argyle, he has gone under the radar at Sheffield Wednesday, however the win against West Brom once again highlighted his brilliant qualities as part of Rohl’s set up.
Crann was particularly excited by the wing-back’s performance after taking to X, where he wrote: “A word on Yan Valery today, who I thought was terrific in that right wingback role.
“Saw him make a tackle in left midfield at one point, and he got up that right side so well.”

Sheffield Wednesday wing-backs have made significant difference for Danny Rohl
In recent weeks, performances have been much improved for Rohl’s side, and there is no doubt that part of that comes down to certain performers that have dragged their team out of the mire.
Barry Bannan undoubtedly deserves plenty of credit for playing a pivotal role despite Sheffield Wednesday’s lack of fortunes in recent weeks, but he has been joined by both Johnson and Valery, who have helped transform either flank for the Owls.
Whether they are on the attacking front, or defending, they have shown their true qualities and have adapted incredibly well to Rohl’s set up, and it is no surprise that the German boss has been able to get the very best out of the pair.
Whilst the attacking front have been somewhat lacklustre, Johnson in particular has still been offering an attacking output on the left flank, and Valery has somewhat replicated that on the other side, something that has been so crucial for Sheffield Wednesday amid the form of the current wingers.
