But the arrivals of several new players, especially in the attacking department, may have pushed several first-team players further down the pecking order, and potentially out the door.
Names like Mallik Wilks may leave Sheffield Wednesday in the coming weeks, whilst online speculation has suggested that Rotherham United have an interest in Michel Smith.
Meanwhile, young striker Bailey Cadamarteri is tipped to go out on loan following his first-team breakthrough last season.
Cadamarteri scored four in 23 Championship outings for the Owls, earning himself a new long-term contract along the way.
It’s claimed that Cadamarteri has several EFL suitors but that Wrexham are currently leading the race for his signature this summer.
Carlton Palmer verdict on Bailey Cadamarteri future at Sheffield Wednesday
Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder and now pundit Carlton Palmer has weighed in on the Cadamarteri debate.
Palmer believes that Rohl is already light on strikers at Sheffield Wednesday, and so the Owls should choose to keep Cadamarteri at the club for the time being.
Palmer told Football League World: “If you’re light on the ground for strikers, then I wouldn’t send him out on loan.
“I think he’s one of those who can be on the bench and come on, but it’s a difficult one because you want him to progress, and for him to progress, he needs to play regular football.
“You’ve got a lad there that you know is going to give you 100 per cent, you know he can score at Championship level, and he’s only going to get better.
“I think, for me, especially at this moment in time with so little time until the end of the transfer window, I wouldn’t be allowing Bailey Cadamarteri to go out on loan.”

It’s seems clear that Cadamarteri’s summer is out of his hands right now, and that it may largely depend on whether another striker is brought in.
Sheffield Wednesday want to re-sign Ike Ugbo this summer, but Sunderland are now in the race and giving the Owls a stuff bit of competition for the Canadian.
For Cadamarteri, whether or not Ugbo arrives could dictate whether or not he’s loaned out, possibly along with what offers Sheffield Wednesday actually receive.
Whether or not the club has received formal loan offers remains to be seen.
But should Rohl and co receive an offer, and it’s an attractive offer from both Sheffield Wednesday’s and Cadamarteri’s perspective, then the club could look to loan him out regardless of their own striker situation.
Getting Cadamarteri regular game time could have huge financial rewards for the club later down the line when Cadamarteri is older, as he could become a very valuable player.
Whereas keeping him on the bench for next season, whilst a good option for Rohl, may hinder Cadamarteri’s development as a player.
Like Palmer says, it’s a difficult one for the club to weigh up.
