Sheffield Wednesday may have made one glaring mistake during the summer transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed an overall positive summer transfer window, which was capped with the loan signing of Shea Charles.
Charles shone vs Coventry City last weekend. And speaking to Sheffield Wednesday News recently, Saints expert Fraser Spinney rated the chances of Southampton recalling Charles in January.
Elsewhere, the likes of Yan Valery have impressed, whereas Ike Ugbo is struggling for form following his £3million move from French outfit Troyes.
There was also several player exits during the summer transfer window, with the Owls releasing a number of players and then sending some out on loan.
Bailey Cadamarteri was one who left on loan, joining Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal, having since scored one in six League One outings for the Imps.
Pierce Charles was also tipped to go out on loan. Crawley Town enquired about Charles during the summer transfer window, but the Northern Irishman was kept at Hillsborough.

Michael O’Neill speaks out on Pierce Charles development
Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill selected Charles for the senior squad for this month’s Nations League fixtures, with Shea Charles also called up.
And after an injury to former Owl Bailey Peacock-Farrell, O’Neill has hinted at a possible senior debut for Pierce Charles this week
O’Neill spoke at length about Charles. He hailed his potential, but also said that he thinks the 19-year-old needs to be playing regular first-team football, and as soon as possible.
O’Neill told Belfast Telegraph: “Like with any young goalkeeper, the hardest part is how do you get on the pitch. That’s something I have seen with other young goalkeepers.
“For Pierce, the most important thing is to find a way to get to first-team football as quickly as possible whether that is on loan or with his own club.”

Did Sheffield Wednesday make a mistake by not sending Pierce Charles on loan
During the summer, it was reported that Danny Rohl and Sheffield Wednesday wanted to send Charles on loan to a club with a similar style of play.
But Ben Hamer’s injury meant that Charles was kept in S6. Then amid interest from EFL sides, it was revealed that Rohl was uninterested in sending Charles on loan.
Like O’Neill says, though, Charles needs to be playing regular football. Whilst being no.2 in the Championship is good exposure, it’s not really doing anything for Charles’ development.
Rohl and Wednesday should’ve brought in another goalkeeper to play back up to James Beadle until Hamer returned.
Charles now seems to be stuck at Wednesday, on the bench or in the youth team, until the January transfer window.
