Sheffield Wednesday’s next ties following the international break are set to be crucial for Danny Rohl and his side.
With zero points and goals in their last three Championship matches, they will be hoping to bounce back as they first face off with Queens Park Rangers at Hillsborough.
The following Championship clash after that will be a trip to Kenilworth Road as Sheffield Wednesday look to get extra points on the board.
Whilst the Championship games will no doubt take priority for Rohl’s side, they will also face a stern test as they travel to Blackpool for the next round of the EFL Cup, which will take place in-between the two fixtures.
There is a Sheffield Wednesday reunion on the cards as former Owls boss Steve Bruce very surprisingly took the top job with the Seasiders, and he will manage a side that has former Wednesday striker duo Jordan Rhodes and Ashley Fletcher.
Both were set to face off against Sheffield Wednesday, however one of the former Owls attackers now looks set to miss the action.

After a fairly uneventful season at Hillsborough, Fletcher then moved on to League One outfit Blackpool where he has had slightly more success in front of goal, scoring once so far this campaign.
He was set to be part of the Blackpool side to face Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup, however he has been handed a three-match ban following misconduct in the game against Wycombe Wanderers.
The former Sheffield Wednesday attacker was unable to find the back of the net once during the 2023/24 season in S6 in 25 games.

Danny Rohl must take Blackpool game very seriously
Whilst Championship ties should undoubtedly take priority, particularly in Sheffield Wednesday’s situation, with them not showing any signs of improvement so far this campaign despite the several signings in the side, Rohl should by no means be underestimating the importance of this tie from the players’ point of view.
An away clash against a League One side could potentially make or break the players regarding their confidence, and if they don’t come away victorious, it will make the following Championship fixtures that much more difficult.
There is no doubt that Sheffield Wednesday will be favourites against former boss Bruce, even with a second-string side, but the time to get rid of complacency is now an that must be demonstrated against Blackpool.
