Danny Rohl recently gave a lengthy interview about his time with Sheffield Wednesday.
Speaking to the EFL, Danny Rohl gave an interview about his time in Sheffield so far; the challenges he’s faced and what the future might hold.
He spoke at length about the great escape of last season, with Sheffield Wednesday becoming the first team to beat the drop in the Championship after going winless in their opening 13 games.
This season has started with mixed results. But the Owls definitely go into this month’s international break on a high, following a 2-1 win at Coventry City last time out.
Rohl’s side now have seven points from their last three games having also beaten West Brom in the build-up to the October international break.
The Owls currently sit in 15th place of the Championship table and have some players on international duty this month, whilst Bailey Cadamarteri has been on the scoresheet for Lincoln City.

Danny Rohl drops ‘sporting director’ comment in recent interview
One interesting point made in Rohl’s interview was about the decision-making process at the club, mainly with regards to transfers.
Having worked mainly in Germany before arriving in S6 last October, Rohl explained how the lack of a sporting director was very different for him.
Sheffield Wednesday currently do not have one in place. They’ve had people hold similar positions during Dejphon Chansiri’s near-ten-year tenure, but often only for brief spells.
Rohl said: “Especially in England, it’s different to Germany, where you have a sporting director very often.
“This was new for me – especially in January, in the transfer window and having to look for players, convince them and bring them here.
“You have to make the decisions and you’re the picture of the Club – you’re the guy who’s at the front and you have to be the figurehead in front of the media and the supporters.”

Are Sheffield Wednesday still lacking a director
Whether it be a director of football or a sporting director, Sheffield Wednesday not having one has been an ongoing debate among fans for a long time.
Since Rohl’s arrival, Chansiri certainly seems to have taken a step back, withdrawing himself more so from the football decision-making process.
But it also seems as tough Rohl takes on board perhaps too much of that process, with his large backroom team focussed more towards matters on the pitch rather than off it.
A go-between for Rohl and Chansiri may be the final piece of the puzzle at Hillsborough. But it remains to be seen whether Chansiri would want to be a completely silent owner.
Either way, Sheffield Wednesday are certainly looking up under Rohl and this current regime.
