Sheffield Wednesday youngster Bailey Cadamarteri looks as though he’s really getting up and running for Lincoln City now.

Sheffield Wednesday academy graduate Bailey Cadamarteri joined Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal during the summer.

It comes after his breakthrough in the Wednesday first-team squad under Danny Rohl last season, with the 19-year-old scoring four in 23 Championship outings for the Owls.

Game-time was looking set to be limited for Cadamarteri this time round. But he’s now featured eight times for the Imps in all competitions.

It was a slow start for Cadamarteri at Lincoln, though. Imps boss Michael Skubala suggested that Cadamarteri needed time to get to grips with League One football.

Soon after, Cadamarteri scored his first goal for Lincoln City, doing so against Garry Monk’s Cambridge United.

On Tuesday night, Cadamarteri was on the scoresheet once again.

Michael Skubala hails ‘brilliant’ Bailey Cadamarteri

Lincoln City faced county rivals Grimsby Town in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, or the Football League Trophy as it’s more generally known.

The Imps went a goal down against League Two Grimsby but found themselves level soon after, courtesy of a headed Cadamarteri goal.

The Wednesday man leapt up to meet a free-kick, finding the bottom corner with what was a difficult header to execute.

Lincoln City then scored a 94th minute winner, with Skubala full of praise for both Cadamarteri and fellow goal-scorer Jack Moylan.

Skubala told the club after the game: “It was great to get a late winner.

“Though we got caught for their goal, I thought after that we pushed the game, looked lively and the intensity in what we did was really good.

“The two goals were magnificent. Bailey’s leap for his was brilliant, while Jack’s was an excellent finish.”

Sheffield Wednesday gem Cadamarteri is up and running

It was a nervy start for Cadamarteri. Both he and Wednesday fans would’ve wanted a goal early doors to take off that initial nerve, and now he seems to be up and running.

Two goals in his last four games now, both well-taken goals too, looks as though it’s given Cadamarteri a new lease of confidence.

He hit the post for Lincoln City in the first half of the game vs Grimsby and had a goal disallowed in injury time as well.

Skubala is giving him more and more game-time now and it’s quickly paying dividends. The Lincoln City fans are impressed with Cadamarteri as well.

Expect Sheffield Wednesday and Rohl to be keeping a very close eye on how Cadamarteri fares in League One this season.
