One Sheffield Wednesday gem has been handed a deserved call up to England’s youth set-up.

Sheffield Wednesday’s academy ranks are without a doubt brimming with talent, from the likes of Pierce Charles in-between the sticks, who has been ever-present in cup competitions for the Owls, to the marauding midfielder Sean Fusire.

The Owls’ brilliant youth products will of course come with a price, as Charles has been touted as an interest for several Premier League sides, including Liverpool.

Another Sheffield Wednesday academy product that has shone this season is Lincoln City loanee Bailey Cadamarteri’s brother, Caelan-Kole, who has shone for the U18s on several occasions, putting in several ‘crazy’ performances for an U16 playing two years above his level.

Cadamarteri has now been handed a well-deserved youth call-up, however it is one that shows that he has decided to change his allegiance to England.

Sheffield Wednesday gem Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri handed England U16 call-up

Owls academy star Cadamarteri has put in several emphatic performances at youth level this season, leading to him being handed a call-up to the England U16 side, something that will mean a change in scenery after previously being handed Scotland youth call-ups.

Cadamarteri’s international debut for Scotland fell as part of their U15 side in April 2024, in which he netted two goals in a 3-1 win against Hong Kong.

He joins his brother, who also has caps at England youth level with the U20s and U19s, with him bagging one goal for the latter.

Sheffield Wednesday must be wary of Pierce Charles repeat with Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri

The Owls’ current crop of talent is always going to attract interest from elsewhere, as has been the case with Charles, and the recent call-up for Cadamarteri could potentially lead to a repeat of that fate.

Sheffield Wednesday, in this instance, have an easy solution to being in the driving seat if Cadamarteri did gain interest from top-level clubs, and that is the case that the Owls can promise a development plan for the youngster ending in him notching game time for the first-team, something that will undoubtedly come into fruition in years to come for the youngster.

It will be highly beneficial for Sheffield Wednesday that they don’t linger on their decisions surrounding the youngster and they tie his future down, something that comes with absolutely no risk considering the immense potential he has, and there is no doubt that he will live up to it after what we have seen from him so far.
