Sheffield Wednesday veteran Liam Palmer celebrated his 33rd birthday on Thursday.
Liam Palmer has recently set history, coming on level terms with Don Megson in the all-time Sheffield Wednesday appearances list.
Now on 442 appearances for the Owls, Palmer now ranks in joint-seventh in the club’s all-time appearances list.
Worksop-born Palmer made his debut for Wednesday in 2020 but has been with the club since 1999.
Palmer signed a new contract in the summer, along with the likes of Barry Bannan and Josh Windass among others.
But the start to this 2024/25 season hasn’t been as positive as many had hoped and expected for Sheffield Wednesday.
Danny Rohl’s side drew 1-1 with QPR last time out to end a run of three-straight defeats.
Wednesday sit in 20th place of the Championship table and play 19th place Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.
EFL pundit Sam Parkin has predicted a 2-0 win for Luton Town, though Wednesday fans will be hopeful of a good result against the 2022/23 Championship play-off winners.

Barry Bannan sends birthday message to Sheffield Wednesday teammate Liam Palmer
Sheffield Wednesday have a few long-standing players in their first-team right now.
Palmer since 2010, Bannan since 2015, with names like Windass and Dominic Iorfa having been with the Owls for several years as well.
Bannan and Palmer have a good relationship both on and off the pitch, with Bannan naming Palmer in his all-time Sheffield Wednesday XI earlier this year.
Upon his 33rd birthday, Bannan posted a message on his Instagram story, sending good wishes to Palmer.
Bannan posted:

What next for Liam Palmer at Sheffield Wednesday
Although his contract length wasn’t disclosed in the summer, it’s widely expected that Palmer, and Bannan too, signed a one-year deal.
That would put Palmer out of contract at the end of this season, and given the fact that Palmer isn’t often a regular starter for Rohl, it could mean that this season is Palmer’s last at Wednesday.
He’s stated in the past that he’d like to see his career out with the club. But Rohl may have to be ruthless and move on the likes of Palmer and Bannan to make way for the new.
Sheffield Wednesday have an ageing first-team squad despite some younger additions in the summer, and Rohl already has plans for the next two transfer windows.
All Palmer can do is be reliable when called upon, which he’s often been.
