Sheffield Wednesday captain Barry Bannan has named his all-time Owls XI.
Sheffield Wednesday club captain and fan favourite Barry Bannan is entering his 10th season at Hillsborough.
Bannan signed a new contract earlier this summer as his previous deal was set to expire at the end of June.
The 34-year-old, along with long-term Sheffield Wednesday teammate Liam Palmer and Josh Windass have all re-signed new deals in S6.
Di’Shon Bernard has signed a new Sheffield Wednesday contract as well, with the Owls having also brought in nine new players under Danny Rohl this summer.
There’s a sense of optimism going into the 2024/25 Championship season, and a definite belief that the Owls can drastically improve on their 20th place finish in the league last time round.
If Sheffield Wednesday can once again achieve the unthinkable under Rohl, and possibly challenge for a spot in the top six and beyond, then the players will write themselves into the history books.
And looking back on his nine years at the club, Bannan has now named his all-time Sheffield Wednesday XI.

Barry Bannan names his all-time Sheffield Wednesday XI
Bannan has played with a horde of different players during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, where he’s racked up 402 first-team appearances to date.
His first season in S6 ended in a 13th place finish, with two consecutive play-off finishes following that.
And Bannan’s Sheffield Wednesday XI included a lot of players who started in the 2016 Championship play-off final, which the Owls lost 1-0 vs Hull City.
Keiren Westwood, Tom Lees, Daniel Pudil, Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee, Gary Hooper, and Fernando Forestieri all featured in that final, and all feature in Bannan’s all-time XI.
Bannan’s XI was as follows; Westwood, Palmer, Lees, Julian Borner, Pudil, Hutchinson, Lee, Windass, Hooper, Forestieri, and Steven Fletcher.

Have Sheffield Wednesday under-achieved under Dejphon Chansiri
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has been at the club for as long as Bannan has.
And Bannan’s XI features some top quality players, with a few of them signed for big transfer fees too.
Although Sheffield Wednesday reached the play-offs twice under Carlos Carvalhal, looking at Bannan’s XI, it seems like the Owls certainly under-achieved.
But times are changing and Sheffield Wednesday appear to be back on an upwards trajectory following what’s been a very positive summer so far, with Chansiri earning praise.
With Rohl at the helm and Bannan wearing the armband, Sheffield Wednesday could really surprise a few people next season.
